AS I have stated before, School began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a Prayer, Congress would begin their work with a Prayer. Pastors and Ministers proudly Proclaimed the Lord and Sin was the disease that needed to be eradicated in all. So much for those days of a bygone era. Yet it is most astounding, that so few remember how things once were, as compared to how things are today. It is to our discredit, that we have viewed those things and those days, as "Old Fashioned", just as they view the Holy Word of God as "Old Fashioned." The "Oxymorons" then wonder what is wrong with today and they never once are willing to look to the past and make the needed adjustments accordingly.

It is in truth, here in the USA, we have eradicated such disease processes as the Plague, Tuberculosis and Leprosy, yet we can't cure the common cold, how odd is that? We have taken the Antibiotics to the point that diseases recur, because we have made these diseases Antibiotic resistant. For instance, we thought we had eradicated Measles, not so today, children are dying from it, once again. Do you ever wonder what all is going on now, as compared to times past? Do we not think, technology should be beyond this sort of thing, we should be prospering like no other?! So...what is the answer?!

It's so very painful to watch people with no knowledge whatsoever of biology try to pull up the topic of viruses to defend Religion or "disprove" evolution.

Had this moron done 30 seconds of research, just typing in "common cold" into google, He/she would know WHY we are unlikely to cure it any time soon: because the common cold is transmitted by around a dozen different viruses, all of which are able to rapidly mutate and evolve into new forms which our antibodies and vaccines won't recognize.

The measles explanation, as creativerealms said, is also simple: idiots who probably think like the OP choose not to vaccinate their children for whatever stupid reasons, and the lingering measles viruses, which are on the edge of extinction, find a nice unprotected host body in which to roost and reproduce.

It's important to note that the plague and leprosy were under control before your country was settled, stop taking credit for everything.
Tuberculosis still kills some Americans, that's not eradicated.

One of the reasons we can't eliminate the 'common cold' is that there isn't one strain and some people are and always will be susceptible to one strain or another AND we shake it off in days with natural defenses.

But what's that got to do with your delusion that America was a super Christian country years ago? Did you have a fever dream? Are you one of those people who bitch that movies from the 30s to the 50s or historical representations don't show people praying, building churchs and being all 'lord, we're so good as a Christ boy should' as it surely musta been.'

It's funny most American literature and other countries accounts of these time miss this apparent grand mass Christian prosperity. It's odd in fact that claims like yours are in fact only since the 1950s and unsupported by any earlier sources of note.

P.S.
"Of note" means I eliminate the fiction of priests and religious zealots early, mostly pleading efforts to promote this ideology of a Christian America. It's called an agenda and it flies in the face of your Constitution.

There has never been a year when nobody has died of measles. Around 150,000 people across the world die each year of measles. The fact that people suffer in the United States is because of the scientifically-ignorant who will believe any old crap. Just like the denizens of Rapture Ready.

Plague is caused by a bacterium, Yersinia pestis. Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Leprosy is caused by Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis. Colds, on the other hand, are caused by any one of 200 different rhinoviruses.

See a pattern here? Bacteria: often curable. Viruses: much smaller, members of an entirely different class of living things (if they can even be called living at all), and often not curable for that reason.

So why are you wondering why we can cure bacterial diseases but not viral ones?

By the way, while plague, tuberculosis and leprosy are highly treatable, none has been eradicated. Measles either, for that matter.

Science is good. It helps to know a little about it, else you run the risk of making yourself look stupid...er.

They want the economy to collapse so they can blame the current administration

They want people to die so they can vilify the health system

They want bridges to collapse and accidents to increase on bad roads, so everything gets worse and worse, more people become indebted or bankrupt so they can blame the Republican policies of Reagan and the Bushs on the current Democrats.
And they've filtered all this down to their fundamentalist base, no raises on minimum wage, no admission of corporate destruction of the environment, no social programs. How the hell did these become theological policies? Bought and sold that's how.

My school days started with a hymn and ended with another one. Since then we have removed our State Church, and we are now one of the least religious countries in the world. You were saying...?

I'd say that what is wrong in today's America is (partly) wa-hay too much religiosity.

Why we can't cure the common cold? Because it's not one disease, but our immune system's reaction to about 200 different viruses. When we've cured one, then there's 199 more where that came from. We have overused antibiotics for prevention purposes, and to get more and cheaper meat, so the bacteria have learned to disregard the antibiotics. It wasn't antibiotics that eradicated Measles, stupid, as it's caused by virus, not bacteria. It was vaccinations that eradicated Measles; you have the anti-vaxxers to thank for every single one of the children dying of Measles and other diseases that used to be prevented with vaccines.

Science is the thing that will help us with all those problems, dumbass.
The answer is that you obviously can't manage the process of googling.
