It becomes more pathetic when you USA as a very influencial country on earth made this claim that same-sex marriage is normal and is basic human right and should be promoted anywhere else through Obama. You should be very careful of what you are doing because it affects other countries as well. USA is not the world. There are cultures who see man and woman alone in a marriage. There are reasons for these and are all good. Like the proper upbringing of children in a heteresexual household. And I know the myth supported by LGBT supporters that children raised in same-sex household are also healthy when in fact the researches done are biased.
Now the minority LGBT supporters are trying to coerce the public officials to agree to their demands, that's more pathetic.

Far from being influential the USA is usually among the last of developed counties to be dragged kicking and screaming into any sort of social advance. Next to no health care, next to no welfare, long hours working with no minimum wage and no paid holidays, poor public schools, tent cities outside the concrete ones, highest prison population in the free world, gang warfare on the streets, low life expectancy and high child mortality, obesity an epidemic and then you let every lunatic run around with a gun. I don't think monitoring what consenting adults do in their bedrooms should be high on your list of priorities.
You're right that the USA is not the world, which is probably why it's late to the party on marriage equality.
There are cultures who see man and woman alone in a marriage. There are cultures who treat women as second-class citizens, and cultures that allow a man to have multiple wives. So what?
Just because research doesn't agree with your prejudices doesn't mean it's biased.
I don't know where you are, but the USA lagged a number of other countries in allowing same sex marriage. And as for that "think of the children" handwringing, please remember that most adopted children came from heterosexual parents who were not able to act as parents. You should be THANKING any same sex couples who take up the slack, when the heterosexual community has turned their backs.
So you refuse to accept the results of multiple studies that prove LGBT people can raise happy, healthy and well-adjusted children?
Methinks there is nothing that can be acceptable to you unless it fits your bigoted (and let's be honest here) completely fucking stupid world view.
US of A is a bit late to the LGBT party, dearie. A lot of countries have had gender-neutral marriage laws for quite some time now. And what's this about "promoting" same sex marriage? It's just one more available option, it doesn't need promotion any more than opposite-sex marriage does.
US of A is indeed not the world, it's just five percent of the population of Earth. Most cultures who still see marriage as just man plus woman (or women) are in poor countries in the third world. There are no particular reasons for it, and the few who exist are mostly prejudiced.
The researches done had a reality bias, yes; children brought up by loving parents are usually healthy and happy, regardless of genders involved. Children brought up by overly strict and/or bigoted parents are less happy and healthy, and children brought up in abusive households are least health and happy, again regardless of genders involved.
No, the majority public is trying to coerce public officials to do their effing jobs. The pathetic ones are those who refuse to do one part of the job, while divorcing for the eight time, or whatever it was.
It never ceases to amaze me how the opinions that Americans hold about their homeland are so radically different to those which the rest of the world hold. You see a leader amongst nations, a superpower, an exceptional people who were born to rule. This is not how the rest of the world sees you, with your Tea Party, and your Michele Bachmanns, and your loud-mounted Xstain morons, and your Congress and Senate holding your entire nation to ransom as they play their petty political games, and a casual acceptance of ordinary people becoming bankrupts because they can't afford medical care. And yet how do you respond to these criticisms? Why, everyone is jealous of you, naturally, because America is a shining beacon of freedom for the whole world. Not. Some "exceptional" nation... Only in your dreams.
You should be very careful of what you are doing ...
Oops, sorry. Next time we'll check with you first.
Speaking as someone from England, I would like to throw in my views on the USA. I apologise to any and all American posters on this board in advance that may take offence. Note I'm talking about the government of the United States here, not the people who inhabit the country.
Let me just tell you something akosipatriot. From the perspective of an outsider, America is LAUGHABLE at best and at worst it's a tinpot dictatorship with a bigger budget and good PR. Your government is run by fascist self serving lunatics, xenophobic conquerors and religious zealots that are tied to cyberpunk-esque megacorps. Your economy is built on borrowing and wage slavery. Your education is stunted and filled with self serving masturbatory lies. Your military is an underperforming super aggressive money sink. Your police forces have enough arms to become rouge nations. Your treatment of anyone who's not a rich straight male WASP defies belief. Your country has been infected with a hostile state of paranoia ever since McCarthy drunkenly stumbled into power. Your intelligence agencies violate the privacy of billions of people but are still hilariously incompetent. Your pitiful welfare and healthcare dooms people to poverty and death. In the past your government and those that gave rise to it committed crimes against humanity that some have tried to strike from the record or cast as heroic deeds. Your environmental policies are killing the planet and everything on it including yourselves. Your gun policies and culture result in uncountable accidental injuries and deaths that could have been avoided, and that's before you get into the annual mass shootings. You constantly meddle in the affairs of other countries to try and turn them to what you believe will benefit you even if it ends up hurting everyone.
And the worst part is that you are correct. The United States of America are a vast, powerful and influential collection of countries that decide the fate of the world and can boast that they were one of the first free secular nations and housed some of the greatest inventors, innovators, thinkers, creators and soldiers in the West. So the fact that you have so many problems despite that tells me that something is deeply wrong with the American government, and those wrong ideas are spreading, especially in the Third World which every powerful nation on Earth continues to exploit.
I want the USA to live up to it's reputation, truly granting equality, freedom and a chance to succeed to any and all. But I honestly doubt I will see it in my lifetime.
Wow this was a long one. I'll remove or edit if someone asks me to.
USA is not the world, you're right, which is why you should have done some research beforehand, because, if you did, you'd have realised that many other nations legalised it before the USA. The USA aren't trailblazers; in fact they're quite late in pushing forward this liberal legislation. Canada beat you to it by 10 years.
There are other countries that forbid same sex marriage, and hold negative views towards homosexuality. Superstition and religion (often Christianity) are also prevalent, and education standards are typically poor, so it's little wonder that homosexuality is frowned upon, and for the same poor reasons that you give. Sooner or later you're going to have to face the reality of homosexuality, and its lack of danger, or you'll be laughed at for being a relic of the past.
"researches done are biased."
In other words, they come to a conclusion different to your preformed one. When you think something supports your view you leap on it to challenge those pesky liberals, but when something goes against your view you dismiss it as corrupt.
I don't think I trust the opinion of someone who can't spell heterosexuality.
I honestly don't understand the USA, I'm sure many of it's citizens are decent, sane people but all the politicians and business leaders are complete nutters. I don't get how they can use socialism as a curse word and outright ignore the fact that the countries that consistently rate top in education, population happiness, etc. are the left-wing ones with high taxes and well-funded welfare states. Seriously the sheer amount of opposition to the idea of not letting people DIE of treatable illness unless they hand over the right amount of money is insane to me.
There are also cultures that do not value freedom of speech.
I am an American. I am not proud of my country. It has been responsible for dictatorial régimes across the globe and much worldwide conflict. It has ruined its own people in manifold ways to line the pockets of the very rich. It has led voters to keep this system in place by way of political hacks who warn against "creeping socialism." It has been the premier source of modern oppression.
I am an American. I am proud of my country. It has served as the primary success story for the holy experiment of macroscopic democracy. It has inspired enterprising individuals in other regions to agitate for reform. Though faced with oligarchy at every turn, it has survived thanks to people willing to fight to the bitter end for social justice and responsive government. It has been the premier source of modern democracy.
I am an American. As Carl Schurz said, "My country, right or wrong: if right, to be kept right, and if wrong, to be set right."
Confused?
