When a person goes to Hell, they are provided with an indestructible body that can feel pain, be tormented, thirst and suffer. Since one's earthly body decomposes in the grave, how could that same body be cast into Hell? Clearly, God provides some type of physical body for people who go to Hell, an indestructible body capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures, capable of thirsting, capable of feeling torment and pain. The Bible says to “FEAR” GOD, who can destroy both soul and body in Hell.

If there's fire, there's an energy difference, no matter how tiny, and a recognizable chemistry. Those can be exploited. In theory, something useful can be constructed and powered.

If there's a lake, there's a bottom and a shoreline, even if it's solid rock. That means there's places to go, and raw materials available. You can built something, starting with a simple stone hammer and a flaked knife.

Chemistry means known physics works. Rock contains metal. Even if it was completely undifferentiated amorphous rock, it's still going to contain some useful minerals.

No death and an indestructible body? That means there's nothing stopping you from learning to ignore pain and discomfort, except time. Those things can't kill you, in and of themselves. Eventually, you should be able to ignore them.

Assuming some of the nuttier fundies were right, you're also gifted with a perfect memory, the better to appreciate your sins and the disobedience that led you to your sorry fate. Which means that even if you had to completely recreate the entirety of human civilization and technology from nothing but stone, sand and molten rock all by yourself without assistance, you can do it. You've got literally eternity ahead of you, no human weaknesses like hunger, thirst and fatigue and absolutely nothing else to do.

And you're NOT alone--almost everyone who ever died is there, in Stewart's scenario. Some of them might be somewhat insane, or ready to punch you in the throat for a chance to get a second away from that kind of torture, if they haven't yet learned to ignore it. But plenty of people with lots of memory of everything from engineering to materials science are there.

In considerably less than the time it has taken life on Earth to go from bacteria to Justin Beiber, Hell will cease to exist.

And so, any apologists who attempt to make Hell look palatable by saying "it's the absence of God" or "God lets you have a choice" must then openly admit that, no, you are in fact tortured directly by Yahweh in this scenario. There's no getting away from it. And when apologists embrace that, you get the truly ugly forms of Christianity that "sensitive"* evangelicals/fundamentalists try to distance themselves from.

* I know many people who are theologically conservative but aren't psychotic fundies of the sort that would get quoted here. They even prefer to distance themselves from the fundies, and they don't inform their political beliefs by their religion. If only they'd understand that it isn't some accident that the fundies are the way they are.

He can no longer feel pain. As a result he becomes super-strong, and uses this ability to defeat evil.

The Bible God is a moral monstrosity and hypocrite. Its a God who has shown more cruelty and who has caused and created more suffering to His creation all because two ancient humans ate a forbidden fruit which He orchestratred for them to eat. And He refuses to forgive Adam and Eve and stupidly allows their sin to spread to ALL future unborn humans. Thats damn unfair, irresponsible, immoral, insane, stupid, and cruel. As if the introduction of Human sin and evil into the world wasnt bad enough, He ADDS to the punishment with Natural evils such as diseases, venomous pests, parasites, birth defects, miscarriages, predation, violence, killing, intense cold, intense heat, mold, mildew, mental retardation. And now innocent animals have to suffer and die as well as sinful humans. This God has screwed,ruined,trashed, and flushed the entire creation down the toilet for the sin of two people. What kind of sick bullshit is this? Its beyond stupid, its beyond insanity, its beyond disgusting.
As sinful and as evil as humans are, we are not totally to blame. No one has total free will. Nature and nurture also dictates and determines human behavior whether bad or good, which is something this God doesnt see. He allows us to remain in our sinfulness when He could heal our hearts and heal our minds as we sleep. But no, He CHOOSES not to heal human nature and continues to allow human sin which He supposedly hates so much.
Fire, worms, a sewer like or shit like stench,suffocation or inability to breathe,giant spiders and giant snakes, being mutilated by demonic monsters, and most horrific of all punishments, to be buried alive FOREVER inside a claustrophobic, coffin like environment. They argue that this verse implies that God creates or causes Natural evils such as cancer, centipedes, hurricanes and does not refer to sin or Moral evil. Well, if a conscious being knowingly and intentionally creates cancer, centipedes, hurricanes then this being is himself at least partly evil, insane, or amoral, mentally blind and morally blind like the Nature He created. The Bible God is a Jekyll and Hyde who creates both good and evil and whose intelligence goes hand in hand with His stupidity. Its a God of contradictions and contrasts. He contributes to the sin and evil which He supposedly hates so much. He's a moral monstrosity and hypocrite. That’s psychotic. Seriously, it’s not enough that i’m not taken up to Heaven, he’s going to go to extra effort to make sure i truly suffer, that i am able to suffer, and that i do, indeed, suffer.

For a fraction of that effort, he cuold have appeared to me during my lifetime, convinced me that he existed, and maybe indicated which church had the correct line on his desires. Then, boom, instant convert. Eternally saved.
