Italy’s supreme court ruled that a 60 year old man’s relationship with an 11 year old girl was a loving, consensual relationship and that the original conviction had failed to take that into account.
However, the man is now going to be retried – thanks to the lack of double jeopardy laws – and as we know the next judge will probably be some hateful feminist who will promptly double his original sentence.
It’s also worth noting that the comments on the daily mail website are utterly vile – all of them deny an 11 year old her right to sexual self determination and the 60 year old man his right to life, liberty and happiness. Presumably the commentators are either projecting their own failings in life onto another ‘scapegoating’, are just sexually jealous or are in the pay of the ‘child protection’ cartel.

No, an 11-year-old has no right to the status of an adult. When she is, she can buy a car, take out a loan, sign a contract, and choose a mate. We know that kids are kids. They don't have the maturity to make adult decisions.

I have, and its utterly heartbreaking and enraging at the same time. The sheer helplessness that is in their eyes is palpable. The child who spoke out about this has been groomed and manipulated by someone who should know better, whilst being totally naive and not being mature enough to know what adult love really is. The things that do this are not even human, and if YOU are condoning it then that makes you as bad as them. Perhaps your local police force need to knock your door and check YOUR hard drive before any more children's lives get destroyed by the predators you are supporting.

Children can't give informed consent. They are easily threatened and manipulated by people who want to exploit them. The age limitation in our laws might seem random or "too high" for you, but they aren't. They are a safety precaution so that people like you and that Italian guy can't decide for the children "when they are ready".
Get that into your thick skulls: Gay relationships = informed consent. Therefore absolutely legitimate. Paedophilic relationships = no consent, therefore not legitimate. I don't even know how the italian supreme court came to that decision... although it was mostly set in place by that creep Berlusconi, so that might explain quite a few things. Edit: Oh, it's the Daily Fail. Nevermind then.
By the way, paedophilics who don't act on their impulses actually do have my sympathy. And I'm also against the common idea that sex offenders who went to prison and served their sentence should still be shunned by society (except for ones who don't show any kind of regret).
