One of the primary motives of Chinese immigrants to the West, apart from the higher wages - is that they won't have to be competing with other Chinese people.
Consider the competition-as-result-of-large-population, and the natural intelligence of the Chinese:
150 IQ for example, that's like 1/10000 in any Western country where the average IQ is like 95-100 - but in the developed regions of China (Zhejiang/Hebei-Beijing) where avg IQ is like 115, that's like 1/100 AT BEST.

Then consider the acceptance rate for places like Tsinghua - 0.1%. Harvard brains are third-rate in comparison - even if their facilities are first rate.

Anyway, the net result of this is that many people in China who would otherwise have been highly successful workers or entrepreneurs anywhere else, end up in the middle rungs of Chinese society. And then they look to the other side of the Pacific and see people who are relatively dumber living easier lives, and without understanding the underlying racial issues in Western societies (Ivy League Asian penalty, Bamboo Ceiling, Hollywood Cuckasians, etc.) - they drop everything and move.

It's the same for all other East Asian countries. Life in the West is just THAT MUCH easier from a non-sexual perspective no matter how much more developed East Asia becomes - so much that no one here really cares enough to do anything about Hollywood's blatant WMAF/Anti-Asian-Male productions despite what r/aznidentity would have you think.

As a tangent, I can easily rationalize the Ivy League Asian penalty for this reason. The cognitive gap is just too big - and to remove the penalty would be the same as cutting out all other races from social mobility (apart from East Asians, Brahmin Indians, and Ashkenazi Jews).
