Congress has the right to regulate the judiciary, including its jurisdiction. Under federal law, it was clear that the federal court did not have jurisdiction outside the terrorist of the United States, particularly when it involved a person of foreign citizenship (in this case a Yemeni).

In its warning, SCOTUS was really saying "This is a political decision that we demand rights to usurp, any attempt of the people of the Republic to defy us will only cause us to use more inventive reasons to maintain illegal power - no matter what the law says or the people want".
To my mind, that is naked power and repression. We ought to reply with federal marshalls arresting the bastards and shooting them between their terrorist loving eyes.
