Have you checked the credentials of any advocates for workers, lgbt people and civil rights activists lately? They're leftist. They have always been leftist. Capitalism is totally incompatible with social progress and it always has been. I don't need to tell you that because you already know it... You just don't care because you like your nice comfortable neighbourhood built on the backs of the enslaved.

You must have an odd definition of "enslaved" that includes a wage and the freedom to come and go as you choose when off work. Just because you're anti-capitalist doesn't mean that Capitalism is a burden on society or holding back social progress. Hell, if it helps turn a profit (and it does) capitalism should support advancing society. But "profit" is probably a dirty word to you, and the idea that self-interest could ever result in doing good for society must be an alien concept.
*sigh* Why must people assume that all things they are against are in alignment?
After all the Tankie bullshit this person just unleashed, I hate to agree with them on anything. A broken block's right twice a day, though. Capitalism tends to protect whatever power structure is already in place, even if that's not a deliberate goal, and those who are already oppressed usually bear the brunt of its negative consequences.
That said...you've got some balls if you talk about civil rights for the LGBT community right after supporting the USSR. Holy shit, even for the time when they were operating, they were terrible in their treatment of pretty much all non-heterosexual people. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation now isn't a whole lot better.
Capitalism can be good or bad depending how it's used. Unfettered, unregulated Capitalism is bad but a controlled Capitalism with plenty of controls, regulations and paired with Socialism works.
I refuse to live in an over-the-top Communist society as much as and over-the-top Fascist Plutocratic one!
Things work best when there is Balance....with opposites working as one.
* Capitalism/Socialism
* Masculine/Feminine
* Reason/Faith
* Logical/Intuitive
* Restraint/Indulgence
etc.
Although I consider myself a total Leftie; My approach is that of a Moderate-Progressive and a Pragmatist. I'm perfectly fine with The Democratic Party and prefer reforming it from within rather than starting fresh.
My end-goal is the same as the Far-Left (for the most part) but I believe in doing things incrementally. Whenever folks start doing stuff in an over-the-top fashion it only leads to ruin, making an ass of oneself for the plot of "We Won't Get Fooled Again". To me; The goal should be "Socially Far-Left but Politically Moderate-Left" but that's my opinion.
To affect positive change, you need the majority of the masses behind you. You need a little bit of everyone from Farmer Brown to Hairdresser Harriett to Blue-Collar Bob to Schoolkids Brad & Missy....Not just Latte Sipper Sardo, Black Radical Bonita or Stoner Steve.
"Radical Change via Moderate Means", that's my motto.
Confused?
