It's much bigger than IQ. Down's syndrome is being eliminated in Europe and suppressed in the US by prenatal screening and abortion. Since every trait has some genetic component, pretty soon we will be able to check for homosexuality, transgender susceptibility, Alzheimer syndrome, Tay-Barre and even feminism and progressivism. Imagine the great social improvements by eliminating those traits. It would far exceed the benefits of selecting for high IQ.
By the way, people are already aborting fetuses because they are male or female.

Why do these people always assume they would be on the winning side? If traits such as political persuasion and personality were really genetic, detectable, and avoidable, a certain Mrs. Mary Anne MacLeod Trump would have "red alert" going off these days and two generations down the road would be spared tons of trouble.
While I don't doubt that genetic screening coupled with targeted abortion could reduce homosexuality, it wouldn't eliminate it, as brain development in the womb and early years also plays a role. As for eliminating liberals, that would be the genes that don't cause an oversized amygdala.
People have been KILLING BABIES for generations because they were the "wrong sex", which usually meant "female". I mean real babies, not a tiny fetus.
I agree, it's possible to test for a lot of genetic anomalies, but I don't know if that will eliminate anything completely. After all, the harsh life of our early ancestors didn't manage to eradicate people with a genetic handicap.

Attempting to change a person's genetics or eliminating them goes directly against your gawd's supposed word, at least according to you assbiscuits, which is why some of you allow your children to die of easily preventable diseases because you choose to pray for them. Downs syndrome will never be completely eliminated, unless every single pregnancy is screened. Not only women over 40 have kids with Downs, but to my knowledge, it's mostly women over 40 who are screened for Downs.

Yes, China, with its one-kid-per-family policy, has a "strange" lack of girls and women. It used to be that boys were more "valuable", but as there are now a definite shortage of women of marital age for these pampered little man-boys to marry, women's "value" is hugely increased. And, I guess, the most pampered of the man-boys will not be chosen by the women who can pick whichever they like best...

I wish we could eliminate traits in the womb, which produce bigotry. However, I'm not holding my breath on that one, since it's not always genetic and may be caused by being brought up wrong.

Except for some forms of Alzheimer's (except most aren't purely genetic, there are only a few deterministic genes for Alzheimer's other genes being risk genes), Down's Syndrome, and Tay Sachs (I couldn't find Tay-Barre in google but Tay Sachs came up) none of these things are purely genetic. Furthermore not everyone gets screened.
As gene editing is researched eventually those diseases that are purely genetic will be eliminated, since allowing parents not to edit away genes for disease would be permitting child neglect. It's just like how parents cannot refuse a blood transfusion or surgery for their children if they will die or suffer severe health problems otherwise. Gene editing is just another medical treatment.
