Quote# 141149

I have read Ezekiel thanks,I've also read Jude 1:7,the only possibility for the two texts to be congruent,is if the 'so they committed abominations' ..refers to the sexual immorality we see on display in Genesis 19
where all of the men of Sodom expressed their desire for homosexuality..

"who indulged in sexual immorality and pursued strange flesh, are on display as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire."

Jude 1:7

(as Jude requires an example)to act as a warning to others,we have this in Genesis 19 ,where all the men of Sodom desire to have homosexual sex with Angels they believed to be men.

So although they did commit other sins, they were not the reason given for their destruction.

As you will notice, the sins of not having regard for the poor and needy, being overfed and complacent, although sinful are not punishable by death under Levitical law....homosexuality however is.

Stop with your stupidity and become a Muslim.

Strange flesh, is it? Well, apparently the Greek word there, meaning strange or different, is hetero.

Levitical law doesn't apply to Gentiles.

This acts as a warning to others that you don't have the right to think about being homophobic.

Here is the Mayor of London with the Chief Rabbi of Britain:

Now, would the former have anything to do with the latter if Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis exerted his 'right' to be homophobic to fellow Jews?

Because when the former - Sadiq Khan - is a Muslim who has a Fatwa out on him for his pro-LGBT policies, said latter has no problem with obeying secular democratic Rule of Law via Parliament.

So why do you, OP: because your religion never had the right to in the first place.

You've left out the important thing: your laws only apply to those who choose your religion.

"who indulged in sexual immorality and pursued strange flesh, are on display as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire."

Jude 1:7

Funny, the same can be said for heterosexual people who has sex outside of marriage and sleeps around on their spouse.

The Angry Dybbuk

Ezekiel gives a list that flat out says, "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and careless ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy." (16:49)

I'm supposed to believe that every man in Sodom was a homosexual rather than that every man in Sodom sought to humiliate the guests of Lot through rape? Hmmm...which thing is more likely?

Exactly! You have to twist and turn to get two different Bible verses to be congruent. Would an omniscient deity inspire such a third-rate compilation of books?

Ezekiel only speaks about "abominations". That could be cooking veal in cow-milk, or sowing the wrong crop in the wrong fields...

Jude speaks about sexual immorality. That could be adultery and fornication. Strange flesh can indicate women from a far-off country.

Genesis 19:26 and Genesis 19:27 show gross injustice. Lot's wife looks back and becomes a pillar of salt. Abraham looks back and nothing happens to him...

Doubting Thomas

Why is it the first thing these idiots think of when they see the word "abomination" is sex? I can think of a thousand things I'd consider abominations before I'd think of sexy fun time between the sheets. It must be the "sex is evil and I am horny" crowd.

As you will notice, the sins of not having regard for the poor and needy, being overfed and complacent, although sinful are not punishable by death under Levitical law....homosexuality however is.

Another reason the bible is immoral. It's far worse to disregard the poor and needy and allow them to suffer than for two men or two women to have consenting, adult sex with each other.

NonProphet

...Except nowhere in Leviticus does it say that the men of Sodom wanted to have sex with Lot's guests.
It says "bring them out so we may know them," and the original Greek actually uses the word for "to know," not any term used to mean "to have sex with."
Of course, even if it HAD said "to have sex with," the implication is that it would be against the angels' will, so wouldn't the crime here be rape instead of homosexuality? Or are you one of those disgusting conservatives who thinks that homosexual relations between consenting adults is the ultimate evil, but rape isn't such a big deal? (I'm guessing you are.)

Lastly, I'm guessing your username is supposed to be a 12-year-old edgelord's spelling of "Liberal Fascists," which is a nonsense phrase. Fascism is an extreme right-wing policy, one several of your fellow conservative Christians in the US advocate for. Calling someone a "liberal fascist" is like calling them a "Baptist atheist" or "meat-eating vegan." You're just using "fascist" as another snarl word you don't actually understand, just like "atheist," "socialist," "satanic," and "communist."
Cripes, learn the meaning of words before spraying them all over the internet.

What if they're just NOT congruent? (and wouldn't the better word be "consistent," anyway?)

You mean that of the guy (described elsewhere as "just and righteous") who offered his supposedly virgin daughters up to a mob, then later in the same chapter gets so drunk he doesn't realize both his daughters have sex with him in order to have his children?
