I’m afraid the whole concept of ‘interfaith relations’ is in error. The Bible is quite clear:
Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 [ESV])
There can be no truth in other religions, they are simply man made, nothing else. There can be no reconciling between them and Christ, for they lead men to damnation. There is no possibility of light mixing with darkness.

There is no possibility of light mixing with darkness.
Sure there is. You're god has no problem with it.
(KJV) Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
The Bible is quite clear:
Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 [ESV])
Romans 11:26-32. All Jews - religious or not - are already Saved & going to Heaven: thus bypassing the very basis of your 'Belie fs'.
Error? Your 'God' is currently doing an impression of Nomad when confronted by Capt. Kirk pointing out that 'perfect' & inerrant AI was the diametric opposite to what it thought it was.
Our logic is impeccable. Your religion is in grave danger. [/Spock]
That boils down to "They're wrong, I'm right, because I say so". That's not evidence, and it isn't even an argument. That's just the response of every bratty child who doesn't want to take a nap.
Maybe, your religion is man-made, also. Oh, and light mixes with darkness, in just about every nightclub I've been to.
Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 [ESV])
To which his 'father' replies
"Thou shalt have no other gods before Me," Exodus 20:2.
Hmmm. Maybe that's why Jesus was tortured and killed. Yahweh dosen't take kindly to those who presume to speak for him and take his authority away, especially those claiming to be related to him.
In other words, "My religion is true because my religion says so."
There is no possibility of light mixing with darkness.
I guess you've never heard of shadows?
"There can be no truth in other religions, they are simply man made, nothing else."
A muslim said this to me several years ago. Looks like you're headed to damnation.
All those other religions think YOURS is the man-made one, that THEIRS hold the truth, THEIR scripture is just as clear as yours. You are more alike than you are different in that aspect.
Btw, the fact that you have to end with [ESV], CLEARLY show that your Bible is not quite clear on, well, anything.
Oh, and both dusk and dawn are light mixing with darkness.

And yet everytime Christ interacts with someone of a different belief, such as the Samaritan Woman or the pagan centurion, he never adomishes their belief as being of the devil. In fact the only people he says that of are the pharisees, and even then it wasn't about their faith.
@CC
This quote and article are written about the church and their purpose and beliefs. The write of the quote said that they shouldn't mix in other beliefs into their church beliefs and practices. The Christian faith shows that to look inside yourself for answers you can be drawn by evil spirits and you should only look to the word of God in the Bible. He doesn't condemn anyone and forgives everyone, but the word of God shouldn't be amended or altered
@CC
Those people you mentioned in the bible are the perfect example of how this writer spoke about those of other religions and how the church should treat them. Love them, accept them, forgive them, but show them the way and truth and life and don't alter or amend the word of God.
That's the thing though; with every edition and nearly every decade, the Bible gets altered. Words gets mistranslated, verses are added, verses are removed, some intentionally, some unintentionally. And ultimately it was to get the Bible to support the doctrines of whatever Church holds it. No modern or english Bible matches up 100% to what early Christians and Jews where reading.
That's one of MANY things that disillusioned me from Organized Religion - years ago I considered myself first born again and of the modern fundamentalist fold. But then I read and studied the Bible day in and day out, and more importantly studied how Christianity changed over the centuries, how their beliefs changed over the centuries, and most importantly how the Bible was reinterpreted and altered to support what the churches believed. This is something wars and genocides have been started over, or people have been executed over; to say church and politics need to be seperated is laughable as ever since the fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of the Roman Church, the two have always been intermixed. What we see with relgious fanatics in the political climate is nothing new.
@SpuriKitty
Easier said than done. Like I said every Bible written from the time the church began was altered to some extent by over the centuries to agree with man made doctrines, and favourite dictionaries among the fundamentalists where written to support the Bible translation that supports their beliefs and bias'.
Let's say someone where to produce an English Bible, based on what the old Greek and Hebrew says word for word without any of the tamperings like we got from the King James or Latin Vulgate - the modern fundamentalists or tradtionalists would be up in arms and you'd be lucky that they wouldn't be out for blood.
@ CC
The bible states at the end that the word of God has been finished. That's why Mormonism is shown to be a trick by the devil, Mormonism tells you to look inside yourself and feel a need to do good and earn salvation to measure up to God. everything about this is so good, but the trick is that you have to earn your salvation- which comes from the devil.

We look at what you say for several reasons. One is to see what actions people are taking to try to infiltrate religion (always THEIR religion) into the public schools or government or (worst of all) our laws, that are supposed to govern a population with the freedom of religion. The other reason is that we find the most humorous and ridiculous things being said by the godbots.
You keep providing the laughs, we will keep visiting you. And the more comments you leave us here, the more stupid things we will comment upon.
You say god has answered your prayers. For goodness sake, pray for the storms and forest fires to stop, and for wars to cease, and for everyone to be fed, around the world. Or do you just pray to find your own car keys?
It really, really doesn't "suck if it's all a lie". It's more like you're living in one little dark room for all your life, and then abandoning religion and walking free into the light of reason. The world is so wide and wonderful, full of life and love, but first you've got to take off your god-colored glasses and see it.
Recovering from my mental illness that made me graduate from a reform school isn’t petty and preventing me from getting in a car accident where I almost got killed in another doesn’t seem petty. Because of me three people we going to heaven and I reached out to my friend that was picked on so much that he was murdered isn’t petty, I think that’s one of the greatest stories that have ever lived- I repacked out to him and became his best friend and liked him for his differences and was proud of him when I introduced him to others. Him and his family were atheists but now they see how I impacted his life and served as his angel.
I didn’t say prayers of normal occurrences, but prayers that seemed impossible. I was a terrible driver and got in a number of accidents- one where I was almost killed at my fault. I almost drove over a bicyclist. This was largely in part because of my mental illness. When my parents got me a new car I prayed that I wouldn’t do that anymore and find a way to drive like others, and it was answered right away and habent gotten into one accident as long as I’ve had my car- almost four years now
You told me that Christianity could be naivety and self centeredness. My experiences show that it’s not. There can be the same in other religions, my experiences come from main and fundamental meanings and messages relayed in the Bible. I guess it’s about learning other religious beliefs and proofs of them in real life
They aren’t truths, they’re proofs. Direct answer to prayer immediately for what is impossible shows proof. I haven’t gotten into one small parking accident, before I had ran into three parked cars, about ten poles or walls, swiped off my side mirror on a busy LA freeway, pulled out on someone and had my car totaled, if I hadn’t sped up within 5 or 10 seconds I’d have been hit and killed- and the accident was at my fault. I was about a foot away from running over a bicyclist. I prayed deeply that with my new Car I wouldn’t injure myself or others or damage it and my finances and it happened right away and I haven’t gotten into the smallest parking accident in four years.
So it was completely my goodness for reaching out to a guy that was picked on so much to be his death- that I became his best friend and always wanted to spend time with him and liked him for his differences and was proud of him when introducing him to others? All that fighting so strongly against an evil for no reason was all onme?
Other aspects are truths like recovering from an illness and succeeding amazingly afterwards but direct and immediate answer to prayer for the impossible suggests proof.
You told me I’m naive and self centered and I should care about wars to stop and the hungry to be fed but I took it into my own hands and did what i could directly in my own life. Few people I know would fight against an evil for someone that was different and picked on, yet alone so strongly. You can ignore that all after you accused Christians and god of not caring about others in dire need. If you were the one picked on and bullied and then stabbed in the back five inches deep that resulted as first degree murder and as you were laying there dying in the ER because there was nothing they could do to save you, and the last thing about your life at the end that made you happy was the name of your best friend you would see differently. Deny it all you want but you can say “facts” and I can them too
Why don't you elaborate on why Christianity is man-made dogma? Instead of me going into detail as to why it's not. Nice that you can state the end of discussion as fact how you see it. the story about my friend sounds extreme but I'm not making it up, I was in a program for college students with mild learning disabiltieis and my friend that I became best friends with had autism and the other same illness as me and so I wanted to be friends with him and we became very close and I was proud of him when I introduced him to others and there was another guy in the program that had anger problems and was evil who planned it ahead of time and chose my friend because he was easy to pick on and take advantage of. I did it because that's what God told me to do. Nice that you can state the end of discussion as fact and leave it at that that Christianity is only questionable and it's just dogma. Who are you anyway?
Confused?
