"While some say the decision was made in defense of conservative values, others say it was simply discrimination against gays and lesbians."
Same thing. And a good thing, too.
This is my new message - we have the inalienable RIGHT to discriminate against that which is unhealthy, immoral and unnatural. No one can take that right away. To take that right away is totalitarianism.

Well then, I'm glad I'm discriminating against you unhealthy, unnatural and immoral fundies. And if you try to stop me from discriminating against you, that would be totalitarianism.
That was my new message.
You have the inalienable right to mind your own business, dislike gays and leave them alone. You don't have a right to interfere with them. Here's a simple guideline: Orthodox Jews think eating pork is unhealthy, immoral and unnatural. You have the same rights toward gays as they have toward port-eaters.
"This is my new message"
No, sadly, that is not a new message."
"we have the inalienable RIGHT to discriminate against that which is unhealthy, immoral and unnatural."
No, you don't.
First, there is no evidence that homosexuality is unhealthy, immoral or unnatural.
Second, even if homosexuality was as you claim, you do not have a right to discriminate against homosexuals. You don't have to be one, marry one or like them, but you are not free to discriminate against them.
"No one can take that right away."
Of course not... because you didn't have that right to begin with.
"To take that right away is totalitarianism."
No, to take that right (which you never had) away is called equality.
Little Jeremiah, I consider your beliefs to be unhealthy, immoral and unnatural. You don't mind if I discriminate against a little, do you?
Exactly, that's why they discriminate against you when you reclaim your "right" to harrass people, impose your beliefs and not letting honest human beings who have made NOTHING to you to live in peace.
"we have the inalienable RIGHT to discriminate against that which is unhealthy, immoral and unnatural"
You bet.
Let's start with xtians and their worthless superstitious crap.
Wrong. You do have the right to be a bigot, but your rights end when they infringe on another's rights.
Learn what your rights actually are, and stop making an ass of yourself.

So discriminate against smokers, big oil and the US military.
Leave the gays alone, and they'll leave you alone.
"discriminate against that which is unhealthy, immoral and unnatural"
That would be religion in general.
You don't get to decide what rights you have or don't have.
There's no evidence whatsoever that homosexuality is more unhealthy or less moral than heterosexuality, and it's definitely natural, as there are cases of homosexuality in most animals.
Go and discriminate against drug abuse, trafficking and female genital mutilation instead.
To force your narrow-minded "values" on others, THAT is totalitarianism.
"You can't take away my right to take away everyone else's rights!"
I really wish one of these self-righteous little shits would try it on me in the real world. Hasn't happened in decades... I wonder why...
Confused?
