[On why a kind God would use the threat of Hell as an... incentive at all]
Like I said before if there was something other than torment then who'd worship Him.

And here you show you're true colours, you don't really love god, you're just afraid of him. Like the kids who hang out with the biggest bully at school, they dont really like the bully, but if they're friends with him hopefully he won't beat them up.
Uh, god created the universe. Couldn't he make the alternative to worship a little less gruesome? That is, assuming he isn't a sadist, which isn't quite clear by most accounts. What's worse, this smells of "god needs mortal worship", and an all-powerful being can't have needs, as it makes it possible for him to be deprived of something, which is a weakness. Now, I'd love to say "but what do I know", but since we're playing the "I understand infinite beings" game...
If god sends people to hell, then he's not a kind, loving, and compassionate god. Therefore, either god doesn't send people to hell, or your god is the wrong one.
So a god that makes the claim to be all-loving should be worshiped solely for the purpose because if we don't, then he's sending us to hell? But doesn't that go against the all-loving part? So either your god isn't love, or there is no hell. See how logic works? And how your idiotic beliefs go against it.
Let's look at the evidence...
-Scare tactics
-Mass murder
-Mass child murder
-Cursing and condemning the entire family of one sinner down through the generations because of something their ancestor did
-Advocating cultivated ignorance, deliberate falsehoods, and blind obedience
Face it. God is a tyrant. Anyone who says otherwise is deluded.
@a mind far far away:
Good point: In Judaism, God doesn't send people to Hell.
Hell doesn't exist in Judaism. That started with Christianity. In Judaism there is just Purgatory (which is not forever) and Heaven (which 99% of people go to whether they worship God or not). The people who are truly evil (Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc.) simply have their souls extinguished -- basically like Nirvana for Buddhists.
Confused?
