[On equal rights for homosexuals] Once we legitimize one mental illness, what's next?
People start wandering around with tiny golden effigies of torture devices hanging around their necks talking about a magic sky giant who tosses lightening around for fun, likes to hide behind bushes when he talks, once killed everyone on earth but one poor family who probably spent the rest of their lives digging out of the biggest pile of animal crap ever, and once commanded a man to kill his son as part of what was pretty much the sickest pratical joke in history.
*sigh* OK, let me tell you about the whole "homosexuality was considered a mental illness". I've done a lot of research into the history of psychology/psychiatry (OT: Tom Cruise can go fuck himself).
Homosexuality was considered a mental illness in the first place only because it was considered "common knowledge" - not because of any facts or evidence.
Now, you can go die in a fire.
"Once we legitimize one mental illness, what's next?"
Erm, but wise one, no mental illnesses as yet have ever been strictly "illegal" to begin with.

@ Nodaddy...
Poor arguement, there is a difference between 'legalize' and 'legitimize'
Really?

@ Nodaddy...
The difference is in that soething can be allowed by law, but not considered legitimate activity in society.
Eventually this usually leads to a change in the law, but laws change slowly.
A good modern exaple would be the changing attitudes to smoking. Another would be the attitude in the late 1980s and early 1990s to eating tuna (due to the dolphin thing).
i think this guy really needs to differentiate legitimize and legalize... and what's next, he dares ask? why a more equalitarian and less bigotted society of course! the same one where alice can marry jane, and where bob can marry john, and where... we... have... to... put... up... with... you...
i'm having second thoughts... can we still discriminate against bigots?
Oh, homosexuality is a mental illness now? Psychologists would beg to differ.
@Osiris
Mental illness? So you admit that it's not a choice and they can't help it?
But that would imply it can be cured, which is as bad as saying that it's a choice.
