There's nothing to be afraid of. Not really. God's not going to let any asteroid or comet hit this planet, at least not before the Tribulation, when we'll be Home.

Asteroids and meteors hit the planet all the time, I expect. Probably really tiny ones, certainly nothing like the one what wiped out the dinosaurs, but they still hit. I mean, look at th' moon. All pock-marked and crater-faced. Know what did that? Probably meteors.

God will prevent these things by the usage of these brave men and Arwen...
Using a contrived plot involving oil miners...
Sadly Paris will not make it because God hates those french nonconformist pacifist hippies...
Jupiter acts as a gravity well, taking the worst of the comets/asteroids from the solar system...
God doesn't let comets/asteroids hit the planet...
Therefore, Jupiter is God! The Romans were right all along! Or, it could just be a dicto simpliciter ad dictum secundum quid.
But, doesn't the book of revelation predict an asteroid hitting the earth? If it does, then your god is lying to you somewhere. Because, isn't the bible the word of god? If that is the case, your word of god says an asteroid will hit the earth. But, you are saying that god won't let that happen.
Is god a hypocrite? A liar? Non existent? No? Then that means that revelation is correct and an asteroid will hit the earth- and you are wrong, wrong, wrong.
So, who is lying? You or god?
Look, you know that, and I know that, and God knows that. The real question is, does the asteroid know that?
And when the meteor DOES hit, it'll be the fault of the gays, or the atheists, or the robosexuals, just someone that's not God.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
