Typical atheist...I don't know what it is but many atheist I have talked with will not ever believe that Jesus Christ is real historical person, many of them don't believe he existed at all (at least they don't want to admit it)...And Now I remember that quote in the bible that says whosoever denies that Christ has come in the flesh is of the spirit of the anti Christ....So you are 100% correct that your not dealing with flesh and blood...I have literally had death threats from atheist online..There hatred for God and the things of God is not normal.

Lol, I've seen death threats from Christians online. Who gives a shit?

Also, present the evidence or shush.

Dr. Funkenstein

1. There's little historical evidence that the Jesus Christ described by the Bible was an actual person. It's likely that Jesus was BASED on a real person.

2. There's plenty of people who deny Christ. Is there more than one Antichrist, or do we have to duke it out Highlander style?

3. Death threats? Liar. Check the Ten Commandments and see how well that holds with God.

Atheist are made of flesh and blood. What do you think they are? Plants?

Ancient Rome was, among other things, a bureaucracy. All I'd need to prove that Jesus existed is a single surviving copy of the order to carry out his execution. Gravy if you can provide documentation surrounding the crime(s) for which he was executed.

What? You can't provide that? No surprise.

"There hatred for God and the things of God is not normal. "

Your use of English is not normal.

I bet you love getting death threats, don't you? Each one you receive gives you a lovely little thrill, a frisson of desire to be martyred for your cause.

You shouldn't bother. All those Internet Tough Guys who threaten you with physical violence will never actually travel to your town and pay you a visit: their pocket money could never cover the bus ticket.

Yawn...

Death Threats in internet?, like the tooth fairy, you´re imagining a lot.

hatred of the person does not necessarily equal hatred of their cause

Yes, I hate God so much I don't even believe he exists. I almost hate him as much as I hate the tooth fairy... almost.

fundiesRtehlulz

We don't believe he existed as a real historical person because there's not much evidence outside of the bible to back it up. And even if we conceded that he did exist as a man, how can you possibly prove that he was the son of god and did all the crap he supposedly did? You can't. Think for once in your life.

I'm an atheist and have seen (and agree with) the following expressed by most of the other people I've talked to who are also atheists (you'll note that neither of these is an absolute, something many Christians have problems with).

Jesus the human = most probably real.

Bible Jesus the Christ = most probably myth.

I dare say Glory in print has never talked to an atheist.

In other words: Waa Waa, people disagreed with me so now I have to go back to RR where I'm sheltered from opposing views and everyone agrees with me.

@ Mudak: Bad argument. Rome was a bureaucracy (of a kind) but it didn't have paper. Writing stuff down happened either on very temporary media (like wax tablets) or expensive ones (stone, wood, parchment). Thus, nothing like as much stuff got written down, and even less preserved, than in a modern, or even late medieval, state. There's really no reason why any record of the life or execution of an obscure Jewish preacher should ever have been made, let alone survived. There are personalities and events of much more contemporary importance in Palestine that we would know nothing whatever of if they hadn't caught the fancy of Josephus and been recorded by him. Of course, if Jesus' life had conformed to the fantasy version recorded in the Gospels (slaughter of innocents, zombies walking the streets of Jerusalem, etc.) it would have got recorded, very probably. But it didn't, so it wasn't. I think he was a real guy, but his followers had way too much imagination.

Headache

This is what pisses me off with these fucked up brain midgets over at RR. They can not get it into their microsized brains that I don't give a shit what their old fucked up bronze age fairy tale book tell them, it's a just a bunch of old crock that bears no resemblance to the real world we live in and if you are so fucking stupid that you think it is real and that I should follow what this crappy old piece of unpolished turd is telling me, you deserve to be dipped in Dijon mustard and fed to Polar bears!

Your entire post is a prime example of being home schooled by dumb asses.

Death threats online?
What did they threaten to do, reach down the wired and throttle you?
We don't hate anything that doesn't exist.

Why is it that so many fundies can't seem to spell?

12/26/2008 9:20:59 PM

a mind far far away

I don't know what it is but many atheist I have talked with will not ever believe that Jesus Christ is real historical person

Probably because there is no outside historical evidence for his existence.

And Now I remember that quote in the bible that says whosoever denies that Christ has come in the flesh is of the spirit of the anti Christ

Demonize the unbelievers anyway you can.

I have literally had death threats from atheist online

Trolls, probably. Either that, or lying for jeebus.

There hatred for God and the things of God is not normal

Where?

12/26/2008 9:30:44 PM

Old Viking

There is absolutely no acceptable evidence that Jesus Christ was a historic personage. The Gospels were written between 70 CE and to 100 CE, or from 40 to 70 years after the events they purport to describe.

@Psittacosis: The Egyptians were writing on papyrus long before the Roman Empire existed. The Dead Sea Scrolls are on papyrus and leather. And you maintain that the works of Roman poets and historians were written in wax or carved into stone?

12/26/2008 9:47:26 PM

Disreg

Asking whether Jesus was a 'real' person minus all the mythology is a pretty pointless question.

It's like asking, in 2000 years time, "Was there a Dave of London?". Of course there was.

Maybe there was even a Dave who was a carpenter and a bit of a religious nut. Doesn't mean he walked on the Thames.

Doctor Funkenstein: There's plenty of people who deny Christ. Is there more than one Antichrist, or do we have to duke it out Highlander style?

That would be the most awesome religion ever.
