Responsible pot smokers is an oxymoron in my opinion.
Really? My sister smokes pot recreationally. She's holding down a good job, is a good friend, a humanitarian (Just got off from ORGANIZING a couple fundraisers for a deceased friend's family...last year, it was a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital.) so, respectfully, I'd have to disagree.
Possession of pot is a misdemeanor, unless you have a large quantity and intend to sell it.
And why is that? What point is there to that?
Purchasing pot puts money in the pockets of drug cartels. So, anybody who thinks casual pot smoking is ok, is sadly mistaken.
And why is that? Because your government treats pot use virtually to the same austerity to some felonies. If the laws were relaxed on pot growth and distribution, or even if it was government regulated, there wouldn't be an issue.
Look up the effects of THC and what it does to your brain. Very destructive.
Look up the effects of caffeine. Not much better. Same goes for alcohol. Nicotine is a pesticide. Rail against one, rail against them all. And I swear, but my many heathen Gods, that if you take my caffeine from me, there is NOWHERE safe for you to hide.
Why any Christian would think that GETTING HIGH is ok, is totally beyond me.
Provided is recreational, and responsible, why should it matter?
And where do you draw the line? Is dipping a joint in PCP ok too? What about smoking opium or hash? If smoking pot is ok, then surely opium and hash is ok too, right?
Hash IS Cannabis, you dingbat. And Opium is a lot more addictive. There's a difference between making the brain go a little swirly (as I understand it. Never tried, so this is the best as I understand the high...please correct me if I'm wrong), and using a painkiller. In the latter case, your body CRAVES the chemical after a while. Your body will create pain to FORCE you to use it.
It destroys your Christian witness.
So it's not that it's unhealthy, it's that it gets in the way of pushing Jesus on the rest of the world. Gotcha.
Would you smoke pot in front of your children?
Dunno. Maybe.
Would you allow your children to smoke it?
Dunno. But if I tried it, it'd be rather hypocritical to deny my children the right to experiment with it...and if it was with me, at least it'd be safe.
Would you offer a toke to your pastor?
Why not?
There's absolutely no way a Christian can justify getting high.
Why not?
All drugs are demonic in origin and it's one more thing Satan uses to suck you down and steal your soul. Drugs are linked to sorcery.
Says who? Just because some shamans would use plants to achieve a high does not mean it's satanic. It just means what they saw was just a hallucination.
I'm shocked and appalled by the number of posters who claim to know "responsible and successful" pot smokers.
I'm shocked that you think you can judge people purely by what they ingest.
There's nothing responsible about it. It shows a weakness in their character.
No more so than smoking, drinking or a litany of other vices. People are human, hon.
Why do people smoke it? To get high. To relax. To de-stress. To help them cope with their problems. I call that a crutch.
Yes, and the moment it's NEEDED for those situations, it's a bad thing. There are those that just do it for fun, y'know.
And I call that a lack of faith. When I'm having problems, I don't turn to pot....I get on my knees and turn to Jesus.
And how is that any less of a drug? Just because you're not smoking it, or injecting it doesn't make it any less so.
