Quote# 58387

As a creationist I have studied biology, geology, astronomy, physics, history, logic, theology, and many other assorted subjects. Yet I am still called stupid, uneducated, brainwashed, deluded, and any other contemptuous adjective. That is evolutionists' favorite argument against creationists.
Most evolutionists are comfortable viewing creationism with contempt. However, if they would study it with a discerning mind, they would find out how rational it is. If someone is convinced that black people are not good writers, why would they read stories by Langston Hughes or Richard Wright? That would contradict their own prejudices.

I have perused "Creationism's Trojan Horse." The book is just one big fallacy. The biggest one is "Appeal to Motive." They don't bother dealing with the premises of ID, they just whine that IDers are just trying to get creationism into the schools.

There is no good scientific evidence for evolution. It is not even a scientific theory or hypothesis. Evolution is much like the dead guy in "Weekend at Bernie's."

Any of those studies not from the bible?

If you really had studied all those fields of knowledge you claim to have had, you would know that this statement is complete bullshit. You are indeed stupid, deluded, uneducated, and a bold faced lair to boot.

Cookin' Francis' Bacon

Let me add to the pile-you're stupid, uneducated, brainwashed, deluded and probably worthy of more contemptuous adjectives like vacuous shitheel, buffoon and mental midget.

Like the judge in Dover, PA remarked about your beliefs, they truly are breathtaking inanity.

Mike

Yep. You are stupid, uneducated, brainwashed, deluded, and any other contemptuous adjectives.

2/12/2009 10:09:07 PM

What?

I like how he compares not believing in creationism to thinking black people are bad writers. Is there a "You're like racists!" version of Godwin's Law?

Illuminatalie

The sad thing is, these people really think they HAVE studied these topics. They don't know what studying is, and think that repeating some catchphrases during an evening mostly slanted at criticizing and throwing stones at others, is what people do when they want to learn a topic.

evolutionist =/= a word

You are stupid, uneducated, brainwashed, deluded, and any other contemptuous adjective.

"That is evolutionists' favorite argument against creationists."

It's also my favorite argument against witch doctors, faith healers, 9/11 truthers, Illuminati conspiracy theorists, and flat-eathers.

Just like a fundie to tie all the loose threads of the message up with a nice Weekend at Bernie's reference. Probably the most intellectual movie he's seen.

2/12/2009 10:18:22 PM

I want the Weekend at Bernie's simile expanded.

There is no good scientific evidence for evolution. It is not even a scientific theory or hypothesis.

That statement alone demonstrates that you either did not really study all the disciplines you claim to have studied, or you did not understand any of them.

You lie, you can't have studied all of those and remained a creationist.

You'd have to ignore hell of a lot of information.

I didn't really pay attention until he mentioned Weekend at Bernies. That movie was hilarious! xD

For argument's sake I'll accept that you've studied all those branches of science. Now, all you have to do is show how they support creationism/ID.

Shouldn't be a problem for a clever man like you.

2/12/2009 10:46:44 PM

When you studied those things, were all of your textbooks Chick tracts?

As a creationist I have studied biology, geology, astronomy, physics, history, logic, theology, and many other assorted subjects.
I question the depth of this alleged study...and whether it amounts to anything more than "I have three black belts and a supermodel wife!"

Yet I am still called stupid, uneducated, brainwashed, deluded, and any other contemptuous adjective. That is evolutionists' favorite argument against creationists.
Well it's not like you guys are any more creative slandering us. At least evolution has evidence behind it.

Most evolutionists are comfortable viewing creationism with contempt. However, if they would study it with a discerning mind, they would find out how rational it is.
Yeah, no. It amounts to "GODDIDIT! How can you not see it? Otherwise trees wouldn't be so tree-ish, and the sky wouldn't be such a pretty shade of blue, oh it's all too PERFECT to not be designed!"

If someone is convinced that black people are not good writers, why would they read stories by Langston Hughes or Richard Wright? That would contradict their own prejudices.
Except this isn't prejudice. We're familiar with your hypothesis. Mind you there's mounds and scads of "stunning evidence" you guys talk about that we never do get to see...perhaps when you finally do decide to put up or shut up, we'll be swayed.

I have perused "Creationism's Trojan Horse." The book is just one big fallacy. The biggest one is "Appeal to Motive." They don't bother dealing with the premises of ID, they just whine that IDers are just trying to get creationism into the schools.
No, we complain on HOW you're doing it. It has no scientific merit whatsoever, and any biologist will laugh you out of town for even broaching the subject...before decimating you with examples of observed evolution (Nylon eating bacteria, I believe is an example. Archeopteryx fossils are another) and inconsistencies of God's flawless design (Who would logically put food intake RIGHT beside air intake? And what's with the vestigial organs?) So what do you do? You cry and whine to the courts on how you're being persecuted, and how the kids should be taught both sides...blithely ignoring the fact that there re hundreds...possibly thousands of creation myths...and decide for themselves which is real. Mind you, you work just as tirelessly to smear evolution to get it out of schools, but you really just want equal time, and not want to sneak yours in the back door, and then push ours out the front...right?

There is no good scientific evidence for evolution. It is not even a scientific theory or hypothesis. Evolution is much like the dead guy in "Weekend at Bernie's."
Except the fact that we have fossils chronicling a steady change, observed evolution even within a couple generations, and have compared DNA between species to have close enough correlation to establish a general descent. (Something like 98% of our DNA is similar to an Ape's?)

That's because its thesis is not about the validity of ID, but of IDiots' motives. There are plenty of books out there that refute ID directly--The Blind Watchmaker comes to mind.

Of course, the simplest and most obvious refutation of ID is how astonishingly rare it is that an ID paper is actually published in a respectable, peer-reviewed scientific journal. If it's such valid science, where are the papers? Debates and sermons don't count as science.

Bet you can append "not very well" to all of that.

I love how creationists say "I've studied science!"

It's like they try to set up an argument from authority.

"However, if they would study it with a discerning mind, they would find out how rational it is."

Exactly how rational is "Goddidit!"? Cos that's all you have; no evidence, no theory, no predictions, no nothing. And no way to show how and where this God is or was working in nature.

"There is no good scientific evidence for evolution."

You forgot to add the crucial qualifier, in *your* opinion. I suspect that if the entire mountain of evidence for evolution, 150 years of work by tens of thousands of scientists, was placed in front of you, you'd *still* say there was no evidence. A closed mind is a terrible waste.

If in fact you have done that much study and still go with the supernatural answer, then you are willfully stupid.
