Actually, I would like to tie this in with the abortion debate- we live in a society that is predominatly, or becoming predominatly, atheist. Because of the 'seperation of Church and State', atheists view that this means that religion should be totally abolished. If the majority of atheists act the way you @ssholes do, well, mainstream religion is doomed.

You fundies have so many opinions about atheists, gays, muslims and scientists, yet you don't seem to know a single one.
Over three-quarters of US residents, in the most recent poll, classified themselves as Christian, and that doesn't include the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc., etc. we have here. So, predominantly atheist? No.
These idiots classify everyone who isn't a science-denying, Bible-literalist, fundamentalist lunatic as "atheist".
Personally, I do believe that the world would be better off without religion. I'm just not going to do anything about it.

religions in their proper place can be a source of good. Its when a specific religion wants the laws changed to suit their views that atheists, buddhists, muslims , etc etc etc have a right to object.
The USA is majority Christian although you could argue about what is a "TRUE CHRISTIAN"(tm).

Not taking into account the obvious Spartan Laconic Wit is obvious there, all I can say - in my abortion being legal since 1967 (way before Roe vs. Wade in the US) and extremely secular UK - is stop it, you're turning me on.

Separation of church and state means that religion is a private matter and has no place in the government or in state-run businesses.
Most atheists think that mainstream religion is just fine, as long as we're not affected by it. It's the fundamentalist religion we're against.
You live in a predominantly atheist society? Do you live in Scandinavia? Or are you mixing up "atheistic" with "secular"? They are not synonyms, dearie.
What does this have to do with the abortion debate? There are atheists who are against abortion, and there are religious people who are pro-choice. According to the Bible, you are not a person to be counted until forty days after birth, after all.

I agree with the points here, too, I just don't see what the negative aspects here are supposed to be.
