So stupid.

Winston Jen

Can someone post the link to their YouTube video? I need to post it on my Negative IQ series.

6/19/2009 8:29:12 PM

If you think you are going to some magical paradise for the rest of eternity, wouldn't you let him?

6/19/2009 8:30:30 PM

AIG really is on a roll lately....

6/19/2009 8:37:15 PM

Thinking Allowed

So where is the study that produces the correlation between gun ownership and the christian god?

6/19/2009 8:38:37 PM

If Harry Potter doesn't matter to him, do you?
If Aslan doesn't matter to him, do you?
If Gandalf the White doesn't matter to him, do you?

You see where I'm going with this? Although, I'd say the Biblical God is more along the lines of Lord Voldemort or Randall Flagg than Gandalf or Aslan....

6/19/2009 8:41:29 PM

yes, because an imaginary being would matter as much as flesh and blood people...

6/19/2009 8:43:14 PM

Dont you ever, EVER belittle the name of Gandalf, whether hes grey or white.

6/19/2009 8:48:19 PM

Totally going to find an obnoxious orange towel to staple onto this billboard.

6/19/2009 8:59:59 PM

@ Orestes LOL we'll join ya. ;D Someone can bring some healthy snacks, maybe bananas...

6/19/2009 9:02:02 PM

Damn, you're stupid, huh?

6/19/2009 9:03:26 PM

Wait wait wait... the irony here is just too good to pass up. They condemn Darwin on the basis that he led to Hitler yet they use Goebbelsesque propaganda techniques to pass off their lies as truth. Oh, that's just delicious.

Yeah, I went straight for the Godwin on that one.

6/19/2009 9:03:47 PM

No, of course I don't matter to someone who would kill me in cold blood without second thought.

If I wasn't thinking about God, were you?

6/19/2009 9:15:03 PM

Ummmm, there have been Christians that have commited murder before and their love and devotion to Jesus Christ didn't stop them from killing.

No, no, no, I am talking about other various murders that had taken place before Dr. Tiller's murder since you somehow don't count him.

The Watcher

Maybe if you idiots didn't keep insisting that every crazy in the 50 states should be allowed to get his hands on a gun, this wouldn't be a problem!

"We gotta l'arn these kids some Jeebus! Gotta keep 'em from shootin' up ev'rybody with all them guns we want 'em ta have!"

6/19/2009 9:27:40 PM

I do believe that's the largest non-sequitur I've ever seen, and around here I've seen some big ones...

6/19/2009 9:42:55 PM

I don't know what does matter to a psycho that can just walk up to a person and kill them in cold blood. I am an agnostic atheist, and don't really give a shit about gods, but I would never in my right mind (psycho-active drugs, anyone?) just shoot somebody like that. And not only because I'd be looking at a likely life (or even death) sentence; these things just don't settle with me very well. On the other hand, there are plenty of people, to whom god matters a whole lot, and who had indeed killed others (and I don't mean self-defense and such), and now serving time (or were executed). I'd look at prison population statistics on religious beliefs, by the way.

Also, it seems that AiG's propaganda tactics are rather similar to those of PETA. Both are equally disgusting.

@ Thinking Allowed:

If you mean between belief in Christian god and gun ownership, I dunno. As you know, correlation does not imply causation, so such a study would likely be a failure. Also, if that matters at all, I don't believe in any gods, do own a gun, and rather strongly oppose strict gun control (where no one except police/military is permitted to carry weapons).

If you mean the Christian god itself, though, then I don't know if you can conduct a statistical study involving a nonexistent entity :)

Mrs. Antichrist

Fuck god. I prefer to save my sympathies for beings that actually exist.

6/19/2009 10:01:03 PM

The mixture of a belief in God and the use of a gun sure came in handy for Mary Winkler.

6/19/2009 10:02:15 PM

This pisses me off so much. It's just stupid fearmongering propaganda. I seriously just want to vomit, or cry, or something.

AiG: Just because the only thing keeping you guys from going on a murderous rampage is God doesn't mean that's true for us...y'know...healthy people.

6/19/2009 10:15:23 PM

Why am I anti-American again? Oh yeah...

6/19/2009 10:24:42 PM

"If Heaven and Hell matter to him, would you be sent there?" FIXED

6/19/2009 10:36:58 PM

You just won yourself an internet.

6/19/2009 11:58:05 PM

It´s a little cynical to post it, bearing in mind that the most ardent defendants of the second ammendment are this rabid Christian guys and that there have been cases of shootings in Churches.

6/20/2009 12:10:25 AM

I guess the idiots at AiG are referring to the tired assertion that morals depend on a belief in their god. This billboard makes sense in that context (although the original assertion is still BS).

But in trying to make a snappy "soundbite" for their billboard, they lose the original context. Without knowing the "god=morals" argument, this billboard makes no sense.

If this child doesn't share your belief in a imaginary character, he will be a cold-blooded murderer!

You just have to look at statistics of religious belief in prison populations to see how much religion helps people be good, moral citizens.
