Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli, an Islamic scholar based in Iran's holy city of Qom, said in a speech among his followers that homosexuals are inferior to dogs and pigs, according to the news website Khabaronline.

"If a society commits a new sin, it will face a new punishment," he said while interpreting Qur'anic verses about prophet Lot whose tribe Isalmic scholars say was punished by God for sodomy. "Problems like Aids did not exist before."

Citing the Qur'an, Javadi-Amoli said politicians who pass laws in favour of homosexuals are lower than animals. "Even animals ... dogs and pigs don't engage in this disgusting act [homosexuality] but yet they [western politicians] pass laws in favour of them in their parliaments."

While I was going to make a standard remark about finally seeing something from someone other than a US Christian here, it needs to be repeatedly mentioned that, for all our griping about extremists in "western" nations, religious fundamentalists in many "developing" nations have enormous amounts of power and are indeed the majority in many cases. These remarks aren't simply from a fringe group; these are major community leaders who support official government policy of the EXECUTION of anyone who isn't heteronormative. That doesn't mean the ones we usually get should be excused for their horrible bigotry, but ones like this warrant more than snarky responses on a website, and at the very least need to be made infamous.

A thousand years ago homosexuality was openly accepted throughout the islamic world.
The few muslims who were alowed to be soldiers, were nearly all homosexuals.
Most of the non-muslim mercenarys hired by the Caliphs, were homosexuals.
It was EXPECTED of the caliphic guards, that they should be homosexual.

Mamaluke cavalry required all recruits to enlist as pairs of men, as homosexual couples.
Many of the Afghani freedom fighters who resisted British and Russian imperialism between 1830 and 1939... were homosexuals.
As were many of the heroes of Iran who resisted Soviet rule in the 1940s.

The most effective soldiers in Islamic history, were gay men and women... and usualy Sufi.

Seriously, these Wahabi loons are hell bent on cutting off their own sword arm... right when they need it most.

A certain Austrian once referred to Jews as 'Untermensch' (inferior subhumans).

Funny then, that the basis of your 'Islamic Revolution', Ayatollah Khomeni, upon return to Iran from exile, what was one of the first things he did, Ab-dolly-ah? Yes, that's right. He issued a fatwa ordering that the very same 'inferior subhumans' as described by said Austrian, specifically Persian Jews, be protected from intimidation of any kind. Iranian Jews still exist in your country, nay, even have positions in your Parliament.

Said Austrian referred to his people as 'Aryans'. The people in & around the area that is modern-day Iran are known as Aryans. Among those said Austrian referred to as 'Ubermensch', and also sent to concentration camps, were homosexuals.

Ergo, Ayatollah Ab-dolly-ah is a Nazi. QED.

Hmm. I've never had close contact with pigs, but as a breeder of Bullmastiff dogs I know that I think many people are inferior to dogs. As homosexuals are people, I have to concluded that I would judge some of them inferior to dogs.

Except that we know AIDS was a disease in chimps before it was in humans and that homosexuality existed long, long, long before AIDS entered the human population. Other than that, you're spot on.
