[My qualm isn't specifically the things written in the Bible because they sound a lot like they were written by man and as we both know, it was written by men. My own mother believes so, and follows the god of love she believes exists and I certainly don't accuse her of anything. You know why?]
I really do not care. You seem to be equating "written by men" with "fiction", and yet man does write non-fiction too; and I might point out to you, that outside of poetry, fiction had not been invented 2,000 years ago.

Yeah, Poetry still includes a lot of poetry, The Odyssey is a poem.
And what about Psalms? Aren't they poetry?
"fiction had not been invented 2,000 years ago."
Since Hinduism is the oldest, still practiced religion and predates Judaism by about 1,000 years, and since fiction had not been invented 7,000-8,000 years ago, can we then assume that Hinduism is the real, true religion? By your logic, it would be, since it can't be fictitious.
fiction had not been invented 2,000 years ago.
Except for other mythology like the Illiad and Odyssey . Or am I to believe that such creatures as the Cyclops actually exist?
"fiction had not been invented 2,000 years ago."
But was it invented 1,400 years ago when the koran was written?
How about 4000 years ago when the Hindu scriptures were written?

Sumerian religion, via later Babylonian clay tablets: 4500-4000 BCE
The dated records exist, therefore the basis of Christianity is nothing more than a relatively recent fanfic that became a cult bestseller, a la "50 Shades of Grey". [/'Song of Solomon', therefore your 'moral' Bible is one of the earliest examples of pornography ]

Well, he's sort of right that novels and suchlike did not exist that long ago, and ancient works of fiction do tend to be closer to epic poems than anything else - say, isn't the Bible written in verse? That's where he trips yup a bit, of course.
Pretty sure the moment humans came into being they started making shit up.
"fiction had not been invented 2,000 years ago."
A modern example.

Actually, he's equating "written by men" with "not written by God". Plenty of stuff in the Bible is true; but just because we accept the historical existence of Jericho doesn't mean we have to believe Joshua flattened its walls with a ram's horn and a bunch of shouting. Even non-fiction can still be riddled with nonsense and inaccuracy.
not only did fiction exist 2,000 years, but i'm pretty sure if you went back 2,000 years, the people then would laugh at you for thinking this shit is fact.
Aractus seems to be equating his frustrating lowliness, and its desperate relationship with reality and his fellow travellers, with the prevailing cultural view that asserts the preeminence of ancient authoritarian villains and deluded simpletons.

Tibi Petronius Arbiter loqui vult.
Never hear of Satyricon? Dates to about the reign of Nero. A good, even funny story, although it's fairly fragmentary in spots. You should read it. It might even shock you - to death.
Not only was it around over 2000 years ago a lot of it's the basis for your religion. Y'see The Babylonians, Sumerians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, and others, in spoken word, loved well crafted bullshit.
Your lot plagarized it.
Then Greek, Phoenician, Canaanite, Hindu, Japanese, Celtic et al mythologies are all true then? I guess that means monotheism is wrong. GG.
Kind of makes me think of the film "The Invention of Lying". Fiction (and lies) hadn't been invented before Jesus? By today's standards, The Odyssey, Iliad etc are not poetry. We call them "Epic Poetry" but that's to distinguish them from modern fiction.
Confused?
