"I don't have a big deal about someone's religion, but if you claim that the earth is 10,000 years old, it's just wrong." This comment is merely Nye's OPINION... as it is certainly NOT based on PROVEN FACT... :) Furthermore... he thus has lied... because he has stated recently that parents who teach their kids Creationism are guilty of "child abuse"... even though they comprise over 85% of the population of America... :)
There is MORE information and evidence that supports a young Earth than there is that supports evolution.... !!!:) These last few decades of "science gone wild" have simply generated excitement among "scientists" who BELIEVE the Earth is Billions of years old... ;P Hence... THAT is a component of THEIR "Religion"... !!!:) Scientists with doctorates who believe in a Creator God... : http://creation.com/creation-scientists

"There is MORE information and evidence that supports a young Earth than there is that supports evolution"
Not only wrong but irrelevant. The age of the Earth was determined by geophysics, and has been confirmed innumerable times over. It was known to be far more than 10,000 years old in the 18th century, nearly 100 years before Darwin.
Hey, you'll cause a serious shortage of period marks if you go on like that! Please, please say that your first language isn't English! Please!!! If your native tongue really is English, I understand your appallingly bad grasp of Biology; you have simply not been able to read any of the textbooks placed in front of you.
The only "information and evidence" supporting a young Earth can be found in the Bible, about a thousand pages of stolen and copied myths and legends. The real, i.e. scientific, information and evidence supporting evolution fills, literally, thousands of museums around the world..
Nothing much has happened "these last few decades" in terms of age of the Earth. It has been known for at least a century that it is, perhaps not billions, but certainly millions of years old.
Evolution is not about who or what created the Earth when, you imbecile! It's about diversification and adaptation of existing life, through random mutations and natural selection. You'd know that if you were able to read.

Hey, Junior! Has it ever occurred to you that TONS of deeply-religious Christians have no problem with believing in Evolution? Why is this such an issue with you fundie idiots?
And Bill Nye is awesomesauce.
I am not a rib with legs, you are not a glob of dirt, the planet is billions of years old. The Genesis Creation/Adam & Eve tales are METAPHORICAL! DEAL WITH IT!
This is a job forrrrr...

So one guy saying that it's 10,000 years old is enough proof for you?
And let me guess, your evidence all comes from that one guy.
he has stated recently that parents who teach their kids Creationism are guilty of "child abuse"
How is it not child abuse, you are setting them up to be made fun of in school when they regurgitate your creationist nonsense, and such beliefs will narrow their choices for a career when they get older. And you threaten them with Hell if they don't believe. You are misusing their trust in you as an adult to teach them bullshit.
And I'll second Spuki's opinion that Bill Nye is awesomesauce.
Never diss "The Nye"!
"Science Gone Wild" - is that vol 7 - Spring Break Fever?
No wonder it's generated excitement among scientists!
I've now got this image of men in white coats roaming the streets of New Orleans handing out strings of beads twisted into double helixes!
Eighty-five percent, Junior? More, even? Pew Forum says only 78.4% of adults are Christian. Matter of fact, there's a little under 85% theists, total. So not only is *every single believer* of *every single religion* a fuckwit on the matter, so is a statistically significant chunk of nonbelievers.
Forgive me if I find that claim implausible.
Yep, when you don't have facts to support your side, you can just make up sh*t and claim it's factual. It's really just the same, 'cause if you really want it to be true, it must BE true.
So some fool in a cassock calculates the age of the Earth based on the "begats" in Chronicles, and that's good enough for you? And he based that on what? 30 years per generation when the Bible alleges that Moses lived to be 600 and Methuselah 1,000?
As Lewis Black so nicely put it, "it's not your book." Furthermore, if you asked a Jew, he might "take time out of his Jewey-Jewey day" to tell you that those were not names of people, but probably names of tribes/clans/patriarchies/towns - however you want to classify the civic groups of the day. He might add that they are probably in the book as an attempt to show kinship, end inter-tribal warfare, and forge a kingdom. Or, then again, he might not waste his time talking to an idiot.
Nye's OPINION... as it is certainly NOT based on PROVEN FACT...
No, it's proven fact. You don't get to claim it's not fact simply because you dislike it.
even though they comprise over 85% of the population of America
Closer to 20%. Most Christians have no issue with an old earth or evolution.
"This comment is merely Nye's OPINION... as it is certainly NOT based on PROVEN FACT... :)"
We have the rocks, fossils, varves, ice cores, tree rings etc. We win:P
Theres a blatant assertion here too, that all Christians are of the 6000 to 10,000 year old Earth crowd. Not even close, not even in his list of scientists, which has less dentists and engineers this time then the last I saw generated.
"There is MORE information and evidence that supports a young Earth than there is that supports evolution"
If any on his list have ever made that statement they can be discounted right away, that is a blatant lie. No evidence can never be greater then some and young Earth creationists have no evidence at all.
"if you claim that the earth is 10,000 years old, it's just wrong"
Yup.
More like 4.6 billion.
But a days in Gods eyes is 1000 years in earth time, riiight? So it IS possible that the earth is actually over 2 billion years old (365 days in a year X 1000 "years per god days" X 6000 years that a lot of Fundies think the world actually is = 2,190,000,000 years) (Not saying this is an actual fact by the way ;))
But all kidding aside, there has been proof that the earth is wayyyy older than you fundies think ;)
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
