[In a discussion thread on the House stenographer who took the microphone the night of the vote, in response to comments on mental illness]
This is not all there is.
What we call "Mental illness" might be part of our minds grasping at higher truths.
We would not have an original thought if not for those thinking differently. There's no genius or morality without such thoughts.Thank G-d for such thoughts, but don't let them overwhelm you... in moderation they are a blessing.
This person, for example, became semi-famous, which couldn't have happened following some boring program.
Also, she had a point. The Constitution is probably a divinely inspired document.

The hippies tried to reach higher states of consciousness by taking braine-altering drugs. They were mocked.
As for the Constitution being divinely inspired, did you check the biographies and writings of those who wrote it? Quite a bunch of free-thinkers, they were.
Oh sure, just check out that other divinely inspired document; the Bible, where He mentions Himself on each and every page. It's just the same with your Constitution, God, God, God on every page.
Wait a moment... He's not mentioned anywhere, it's almost as if those who wrote it didn't believe in a personal God.
I'd rather be completely non-famous than being semi-famous for having a nervous breakdown in Congress.
Also, she had a point.
No, the poor woman suffered a psychotic break and is, hopefully, now getting treatment to recover.
The Constitution is probably a divinely inspired document.
Yeah, I was right. American Exceptionalism is just a nationalist religion.
"The Constitution is probably a divinely inspired document"
'Probably'? Yeah, right [/hyper-sarcasm]:

If it's as 'divinely inspired' as you lot claim, why isn't there so much as the words 'God', 'Jesus' or 'Creator' therein? If the Founding Fathers were as religious as you claim, they'd have scattered said words like confetti in such, would they not...?!
No 'Probably' about it. And if you think there is, then you're the fucking loony; PROTIP: over here in the UK, the mentally handicapped don't have the legal right to vote.
...but then, the Antichrist Maggie Thatcher (*spit *) went loopy in later life, so no wonder we don't allow nutpops in politics over here. And the Official Monster Raving Loony Party here - policy-wise - are infinitely more sane than the Repubicans in the US. [/Govt shutdown]

If the "higher truths" my mind grasped and for which I became famous was burning down synagogues, I doubt you would be "thank[ing] G-d for such thoughts."
The Constitution is probably a divinely inspired document.
Then so is my grandmother's recipe for pumpkin pie.
Oh, and if the US Constitution is "a divinely inspired document", why wasn't it adopted for the modern Jewish state Israel?
"This person, for example, became semi-famous, which couldn't have happened following some boring program".
It is very disturbing how so many people see being famous as the be-all and end-all. The cult of celebrity is a dangerous one. Terrorists, mass-murderers and cult-leaders have become famous. And they all "thought differently".
"The Constitution is probably a divinely inspired document".
Well God is certainly moving in some pretty damn mysterious ways if so. Ever read the first amendment?
I'm fed up with this "constitution is divinely inspired" thing.
It both demeans the intelligence of the people who wrote it and turns it into a religious text that there must be no deviation from.
Why can't you look at it and say, "This is a very ingenious, carefully written document, written by very intelligent men, who were trying hard to start a new kind of country, but it is not infallible or perfect and neither were the men who wrote it. It needs to be updated from time to time."
"Also, she had a point. The Constitution is probably a divinely inspired document. "
Except her point was the constitution was written by freemasons and is therefore no good.
I should mention that between when I submitted this (first time!) and when it appeared here, Mr. Shniper decided to take his name off the comment.
That's a good sign, if you ask me. It's slowly being realized that saying things like this doesn't do one any favors.
Confused?
