Paul you and your cohorts shows how some people with intelligence can be stupid. The Bible gets proven more and more correct everyday just you refuse to accept the archeologists findings that prove it. I can show you anotherway to prove it. Mine is a miracle healing documented by the Army, Air Force, University of New Mexico Med School and VA Hospital in Albuquerque. When they had to do bone grafts and realign my leg in 1995 and put screws and other hardware in my leg, it was supposed to take 9 - 12 weeks for the bones and grafts to heal. I was full weight bearing, walking on my leg in 3 weeks. I've seen other examples in friends as well, so how do you with your genius IQ mind explain that or does my genius IQ mind fully comprehend what yours can't process or you refuse to process. When someone can come up with a plausible answer other than mine and others prayers were answered, then maybe you can INTELLIGENTLY discuss what your pea brain refuses to acknowledge.

But, even if you did, by chance or simple power of suggestion, experience this, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, for whom prayer was not so successful.

Finding a big ass fucking city where the Bible--and probably every other text written in the area at the time--says it is does nothing to "prove" your Babble. It just shows that whoever wrote that particular section knew a major fucking city existed at that spot.

Try finding me some evidence of the Exodus, the Garden of Eden, the Tower of Babble, the Plagues of Egypt or numerous other supposed events that have no fucking evidence.

So they grafted new bone to the break and put more steel into you than Pittsburgh and you were walking in 3 weeks instead of 9. Wow. Praise da Lawd!

Mind if I ask why your god didn't just heal you completely? How about preventing the accident in the first place?

Anecdotal, circumstantial and subjective accounts of "miraculous" events don't cut it.

Lets see,
I would separate the content of the bible into 2 groups:
1. Miracle/Supernatural content, of things that god did and which aren´t explainable with natural science (global flood, Eden and so on)
2. Presumable historical content, of events that can be well explained within a natural scientist framework (like King a built a temple at city b, or tribe c waged war against tribe d)

I assume with archeological findings you mean things like finding indices that a biblical king really built a temple like it was said in the bible, or that a war really took place. Or in short, Findings that prove content that belongs to group 2.
And you know what? I believe you and I would even expect more of such things to be discovered.

The Bible is like the works of Homer. Historicity mixed with fables. Heinrich Schliemann successfully used the works of Homer to dicover Troy. This and some archeological excavations let it appear possible that also the trojan war, of which Homer writes, really took place (although this is still debated among historicans).
I wouldn´t however think that these indices for the correctness of the historic content are indices for the corectness of the supernatural content as well.
Or to say it in short:
From the existence of Troy I wouldn´t conclude that the greek Pantheon really existed and influenced the trojan war, or that the archeans finally really won the war by building a huge horse and hiding troops in it ;)

Same goes or the bible. While you might be able to show us indices for the correctness of parts of the historical content in the bible I doubt you will be able to show us any indices for the correctness of the supernatural content (i.e. indices for events in the bible that cannot be explained better with natural science than with the assumption that they really were miracles)

So what is the proper definition of a miracle? Theists would probably accuse me of defining miracles out of existence, but the only event I'd accept as being a bona fide miracle is one for which there cannot, even in principle, be any conceivable naturalistic explanation.

Since virtually any event could conceivably be the result of natural causes (or even of natural forces harnessed by another physical being), then it would be almost impossible to prove a given event was miraculous.

But I think it is a fair definition. We know the natural causes exist, and we know improbable things can happen. Further, we don't know God exists much less that he causes anything.

1. If you really were capable of "miraculous healing" the armed forces would have you locked in a dungeon somewhere while made you their personal lab rat in order to determine how that faculty could be used to make their fighting men more durable.

2. I don't believe for a second that you were in the military. There is no convincing reason why your case would be known to both the Army and the Air Force. Unless your medical case involved a level 4 pathogen there would be no exchange of information between the two branches. Nice try though.

Oh gee....doctors over-estimated the time necessary for you to recover. Or, more likely, the doctors gave you a time-frame that fits the majority of patients with similar medical issues as you. The most believable explanation is that you are one of the lucky few who heal rapidly. On the other side of the fence are the unfortunate ones who heal slowly and their recovery time in a case like this might extend out to 14-18 weeks.

My IQ is 146 and I turned down an offer of MENSA membership at the age of 10 because, quite frankly, I'm socially maladjusted and I can't be bothered with other people. Blame it on an early realization of the absurd nature of life. I just gave you the most likely explanation in a scenario involving a choice between miracles and simple medical probability.

Where is this daily proof that the bible is correct? Is it documented so that everyone can see it and learn about it and come to believe the bible? Or is it kept in secret, just like the bible itself, left to each poor schmuck to attempt to interpret, opening him or herself up to anger from your god?

When I had my appendix out, there were complications and I had a much larger incision than normal. I was told that I would have to be on bed rest for a week or two, and then be restricted, monitored and controlled as far as any physical activity went for another month. I wasn't supposed to be back at work for at least three weeks.

I was at work 10 days later. I lifted and carried computer equipment from all of a giant plant and put it in a central location, on a mezzanine - which meant not only lifting and carrying, but going up and down stairs 100 times in a one day. I never once said a prayer, yet I was back to normal almost a full month before I was expected to be.

Explain why your god did that for me, without a single prayer, if he is the one who quickly healed you?

Ooh. I can beat that. I shattered my leg in an auto accident at age 18. I was walking within a month but, I had a limp and my leg was 1/2" shorter than the other. Lots of pain.

When I was 24 it shattered again walking down a flight of stairs. I had two surgeries and wore a cast, from toes to hip, for 5 months and have walked and run without a limp or pain for over 30 years and the ladies love my legs.

I did not believe in God or utilize any mystical remedies before, during, or after either injury. Can you believe that? I did use every bit of my own considerable intellect and emotional control to pull 9 cactus spines through my hand (Plus the three I had to yank out the hard way because they hit bone.) with a pliers though. Let's see a dead Jew on a stick beat that!
