Researchers have concluded that sexual orientation is more fixed than eye-color. Even some "ex-gay" activists confess that it can't be changed.
APA did real research and found that homosexuality is not a mental illness. Homosexuals are not numerous enough to "do that with everything"; a lot of pro-human rights work that benefit gay people are done by straight people. The vast majority of citizens are well aware that homosexuality is just as normal and natural as heterosexuality, and it doesn't bother them. The increase in countries with gender-neutral marriage laws show this unequivocally.
In order to perpetuate the species, you need people to care for the offspring, especially in human children that need more care than most other species. If something happens to the parents, it's evolutionary advantageous to have a sister, brother, aunt or uncle that doesn't have his/her own children and can take care of the orphan. Hence; gay people!
Why would more gay people be killed in the military during the next war, than in previous wars? The enemy, who does most of the killings, can't know who among their enemies are gay. Drones don't have gaydars.

It is impossible to "reverse" because it would be like telling you to stop liking women and start liking men. It's impossible to "reverse" an inborn trait.

Really, Robert? You expect a lot of of gay soldiers to be killed in the next war? That might be true since young men (and now women) do get killed in war, but I assume you're referring to fragging.
If I remember correctly, two types were generally fragged: the officer who insisted on endangering the soldiers entrusted to his or her care in a relentless drive for medals and permotion; and those overly religious types who drive every one crazy. You know, the soldier who insists on trying to convert his Jewish or Muslim fellows or gives you a hard time about your language. Yeah, those are the people everyone loves.
