Someone doesn’t understand taxonomy. We are apes because that is our biological family it doesn’t really matter how close our dna is but of course this correlates.
Also I call bs on 99% Grass i once read we are 50% banana and I think bananas are way closer to humans (and minions)
How could humans not be apes? How can anyone deny that humans are a species of ape with reduced fur and jaws, a very peculiar gait and tool-making, complex social systems and general intelligence that are exceptionally advanced even compared to the other apes?
Except that (if that’s true) humans don’t have any physical similarities with grass. At all. But we humans do fit all the criteria of a primate in appearance alone, like apes do.
…You know, fun fact. When my younger sister was in elementary school, she recalled an event where she asked her (obviously fundie) teacher “but then aren’t humans animals too?”. The c*nt of a teacher (and that school had a lot of them, I would know) yelled at my sister and humiliated her, saying stuff like “oh, do we eat and drink out of bowls then?”
That’s what one’s brain on fundieism does, people. And to this day I still wish I could find that teacher and punch her in her smug face.
EDIT: also, in my class, a teacher once told us the Christian creation myth as if it were a fact (while creationism isn’t allowed here), and when a classmate of mine asked her “where do the dinosaurs come in then?” she condescendingly dismissed him saying something like “that’s prehistory, that doesn’t count”.
Yes, we are apes. I think the amount of DNA we share with grass is like 60% rather than 99%.

If you need to believe beyond any actual evidence that your species is “chosen by God” and thus better than any animal…
That percentage is obviously made up. Even so- closely related species can have large differences in the number of chromosomes.
Also only a small part of DNA encodes for proteins, much of the rest is inactive. Comparing the sets of coding DNA would be a much better measure of simularity.
Last of all, if vastly different species share large large amounts of DNA (as you claim) then that is strong evidence for common ancestry and therefore evidence for the scientific consensus on evolution.
