Being a ChristoPagan; Here’s how I see things…
Deity’s has a hands-off approach to humanity and nowadays wants us to figure stuff out, ourselves. Deity also has a Pantheistic and perhaps Henotheistic nature and the stuff in the Bible… if any of it had a historical basis… was humanity’s “Training Wheel” time.

“Training Wheel Time” is when proof of Deity and the super-natural’s existence was more overt and miracles were more frequent. Now that Jesus (or the person or persons who inspired the Jesus character) has left the Earth, all those boffo miracles are no longer a thing and it is now UP TO US to figure things out. Deity will gladly guide IF WE ASK but it’s to help us to help ourselves.

This is why Deity wont heal amputees nor zap evil people with lightning bolts. Deity leaves us to our own devices to figure up stuff and fight evil ourselves. Deity is like a Dharmic Guru, Zen Master, Glinda in the Wizard of Oz movie, Jedi Master Yoda or some Trickster Mentor. They’re not going to supply the answers on a silver-platter… WE ARE TO FIGURE IT OUT OURSELVES WHILE THEY DROP VAGUE HINTS & RIDDLES IN PIECEMEAL FASHION.

… and we shall… through the wonders of SCIENCE… where many wonders via genetics, nanotechnology, bionics, stem cells and such are possible… the CURING OF PARALYSIS, SIGHT TO THE BLIND, HEARING FOR THE DEAF and even the EVENTUAL HEALING OF AMPUTEES!

In a nutshell; Prayer and “Laying on of Hands” are not a substitute for medical treatment, rather they are a supplement to it and hopefully make the medical treatment more effective.

Same holds true for Alternative & Herbal medicine. Even if one doesn’t believe in a Higher Power, many do and prayer may put the sick in the right frame of mind… with the “mind & body” link in a positive direction and thus heal better with effective, scientifically proven medical treatment.
