[Talking about The Da Vinci Code]
I honestly feel that the books should be burned and the movies should never reach the theatres. the amount of damage they have and will cause will be enormous. thoughts???

I can't remember who said this, but the quote just popped back into my mind -- "Those who burn books will eventually burn people."
It seems that if one has to protect his religion (said to be the absolute truth) from unflattering books and movies, maybe one should consider why that religion can't stand up for itself.
The Bible has caused more damage than any other book, though the Koran seems lately to be trying to contest for that "honor."

Heinrich Heine, in 1821. And funny you should mention that quote, as I brought it up in reponse to another quote here this month.

AngryNotice is apparently unfamiliar with concept I like to call 'fiction'. In fiction, such as the Da Vinci code, stories are told which are not true and are not intended to be believed as true. This is done for a purpose known as 'entertainment'.
When we say people are entertained by fiction it means they have had a good time and feel happy. This is not damage. It is a good thing.
Why do you hate happiness, AngryNotice?
Q: How many official libraries of the ancient world did the Xtians burn?
A: All of them
Book burning is never a good thing, unless your name is Adolph.

Yes indeed Papabear - yes indeed.
Let's all give a round of applause to the Xtian's finest creation.........
The Dark Ages
May they return soon eh, Mr AngryNotice
Here's the thing about the whole Bible vs Da Vinci Code saga:
Ok, so it's a work of fiction, written by fallable human hand; very contraversial; mainly containing pure myths, fabrication, and apocraphy; but many people consider it a good read, in fact it's sold millions.
But enough about the Bible..............
While I, needless to say, don't think the book should be burnt, I will admit to a certain sympathy with AngryNotice. I've met a few people too many who accept The Da Vinci Code as gospel truth. Fundies aint the only ones who don't get the concept of fiction.
I'd make a comment about how most sane people know that it's a fictional book and not presented as fact, but then I remember that fundies think that the Bible isn't a work of fiction, so I hold my tongue.
The only "damage" the book and film can do is to their own sad beliefs.

Agreed. Unfortunately, fundies feel the same way about Harry Potter, which is even less rooted in reality than "The Da Vinci Code". That makes me sad.
I agree, as long as the Passion of Christ, a bunch of lies and additions, is out of the cinema as well. And it´s making a lot of damage to Christians, for that matter.
thoughts???
...You're an idiot.
Thoughts??? That you are talking complete shit and over-reacting to a book that even its author acknowledges is a work of fiction.
But then you plonkers never could tell the difference between fact and fiction, could you?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
