Regardless, it took Noah 100 years to build the ark, the animals that weren't near Noah [like penguins and kangaroos] had 100 years to get to Noah. You could easily walk around the globe in 100 years, and walk half the globe even easier.

Right, so how about the corals then? Did they 'walk' halfway round the Earth? Even a minor increase in water levels would block the sunlight they need to survive.
What of the limpets, urchins and all the other creatures that live in tidal zones?
How long would it take the thousands of species of slug and snail to get there? How did they manage to crawl across incredibly hot sand without frying, not to mnetion they cannot crawl across sand full stop.
PLANTS!
I'm sure the eiderducks and the arctic foxes and seals wouldn't have minded trekking across a fucking desert either.
Not to mention the bible doesn't say it took 100 years!
And, of course, every animal from a limited area (e.g., Australia's marsupials and monotremes) that trekked halfway across the globe for a free cruise then found its way unerringly BACK to its niche area without dying off or breeding new, out-of-place populations on the way.
Riiiiiiight.

How did the thousands of plants that only live on land, from moss to redwoods, walk to the ark? Never mind a sequoia, how did Noah get a silver maple onto the ark? Land plannts would have died under thousands of feet of water, so he would have had to take them on board as well. Botany FAIL.
"it took Noah 100 years to build the ark"
100? He could've had OVER 9000 years to build such, and he'd still never get it to float after it's launching, never mind a 40 day/night voyage.
One word: Rochambeau .
The largest wooden ship made to date: 1874. It sailed only once . It had metal supports to it's hull. Now ask yourself one question: considering the Jahre Viking, the biggest ocean going vessel on the planet (with a metal hull, natch), why aren't there any more wooden-constructed ships made today?
To hold at least two of all species that exist today, said 'Ark' would have to be far bigger than the Jahre Viking.
If you want to prove me wrong, you go right ahead and make me an 'Ark'. I'll even allow you to use modern power tools in it's construction. But it can only be made of wood throughout* it's construction. Good luck in building the world's first ship-cum-submarine , a2jBro.
*- No metal supports, and absolutely no pumps to expel water via leaks, neither.
@CousinTed:
> Huh, all those penguins and kangaroos must also have had the ability to walk of water, which in itself would kind of negate the whole nessecity of the Ark.
Can I point something out to you about penguins...?
But still, they would have been at a bit of a disadvantage if they ever had to waddle across a desert. Maybe the kangaroos carried them in their pouches -- nice one, Skippy!
Confused?
