(Someone commented on religious brainwashing)
Teaching your children the Truth does not qualify as brainwashing. Truth is not decided by a majority vote--just because the atheists and the secular humanists are? too plentiful does not make them right.

Fixed that little error for you. Otherwise, you're completely right.

I agree. Which means that we aren't brainwashing. You, however, are.

Yeah, we know. Now stop pushing for constitutional amendments based solely on religious bigotry.

Truth: a fact that has been verified.
So go on, produce a single verifiable fact that proves the existence of Gawd. When you can do that, you will have the first thing you need to begin a case demonstrating that your religion is not brainwashing people. Since that unlikely to happen, your religion's activities will continue to be classed as brainwashing.
Truth, with a capital T, must be a special kind of truth, completely separate from facts as we know them.

Yeah, that's what Kim Jung Il and al Qaeda say, too.
Little kids will believe anything you tell them, so, yes, it is deceitful to teach them something you don't know for a fact.

You know, I've said the same thing myself. The difference is in how you and I define truth.
You are correct. Truth is not decided by majority vote. Unfortunately, prejudice, ignorance and intolerance are.

Depends on what you think is the truth. IMO, I think telling people they will go to hell if they don't love god or whatever is brainwashing.
A friend of mine went to church when she was younger, and used to be scared to sleep at night because she was scared she'd go to hell - she was around 7 at the time. Fortunately, she doesn't go any more.
I think the truth is what evidence presents itself. Unless god wants to come out and show me who he is and how he did everything, I'll continue to believe the evolution proof that had been found.
Confused?
