What would America be like if you took all of the Judeo-Christian influence out?

So many here against Christianity in America. What would you invision as a country if we sunk to the depth of Communism in its hey day....a Godless Nation.

How would this improve anything. Could you explain how our country would be in a better position if the Judeo-Christian influence were gone?

Answer : Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transsexuals, etc. would
be the norm, teenage pregnancy would skyrocket,
ANYTHING would be acceptable, no one would have any morals,
crime rates would balloon, right and wrong would be a matter
of opinion not law, so it would be okay for humans to marry
animals or inanimate objects.

Hopefully the answers will be educational.

Not really, having civil unions won't magically turn everybody gay. I'm starting to think that people who make this argument must be closet homosexuals, since they seem to believe that without their religion they would go off and have sex with the nearest guy available.

What's really ironic about this one is that it's the Christians who CAUSE teen pregnancy through railing against contraceptives and promoting abstinence-only sex education.

Also, explain why non-Christian societies survive just fine without your religion. Sweden is the most non-religious country on Earth and they also have the highest standard of living. Funny that...

Those things can't give consent, gay couples can. Honestly, your argument was refuted years ago, why are you still trying to use it?

I have written about this before, and I still just can't understand why these people can't look beyond their own little corner of the world before making statements like this.

Sweden has been mentioned before in this thread, and I live there. This is just one example of countries with very low level of religiosity and if the fundies would just attempt to examine a country like this first, they would know that things don’t automatically get bad.

Sure, Sweden is far from perfect, but it is certainly a decent country. And despite 85% non-religious population we currently have a stronger economy than the United States, a couple of years longer life expectancy, much lower teen pregnancy and teen abortion rates, lower child mortality rates, and much, much more lenient laws about sex, nudity and strong language on TV.

Ok, I guess that the last thing isn’t something that scores points with the fundies, but I’ve always enjoyed it ;) Anyway, the point is of course that if they would just look at any community other than their own, they would see that things don’t have to be terrible just because people aren’t exactly like they are. But they always seem to skip that step and just assume a lot.

Nobody is against it we just do not want it to be endorsed by the government. And without the judeo-Christian values we would not have had the Witch Trials of Salem. There likely would be more education, and other religions would not be put down so easily. And people wouldn't bitch about stupid things. And atheists, Pagans, Muslims, Jews, agnostics would all have more of a say. You aren't persecuted.

Nothing wrong with gays,lesbians nor bi (I am more for the latter myself) and transgendered is fine too. How would it skyrocket?

Communism isn't the only alternative to Judeo-Christian influence. It isn't even on the same board; one is political, the other is religious.

Teen pregnancy in Sweden: I think I saw one, maybe two, pregnant teenagers during my school years. Many people wait until after college to have kids. The average age for women to have their first kid is 28,9 (Year 2009, in 1974 it was 24,4).

Sweden have actually had a much stronger Judeo-Christian influence than the US. We have been Christian for a thousand years. Up until the end of last century, we had a state church.

Atheists make up around 0.25 % of the inmates in prisons in the US, while they make up around 10 % of the total population in the US. What did you say about the crime rates?
The juridical laws are not the laws of the Bible. You don't get sentenced to be stoned if you disregard or disrespect your parents. The Bible says you should be stoned for that.

So many here are against Christianity in America. We are already seeing it as a country sunk to the lowest depths of Religious Nazism in its hey day....a Fucked-Up Nation.

most things that don't harm people would be acceptable, no fundie has any morals (Bakker, Swaggart, Faggard, Hovind, Alamo, McVeigh, Roeder et al), crime rates would lessen, right and wrong would be a matter
of fact and law, despite fundies having affairs, even though they are married (Swaggart, Faggard).

To the questioner: You don't have to be godless to be communist, and you don't have to be communist in order to be a godless nation. So, the way that removing Juedo-Christian influence could be good because the good aspects (don't murder, the golden rule) can be found independent of it and you can also get rid of the ridiculous crap (no working on the Sabbath, antipathy towards homosexuality) in the process. We would feel more free to hold onto ideas and values that actually contribute to the well-being of our society as a whole rather than holding onto them simply because a religion dictates that we do.

To the answerer: Ugh. More "Christianity = all present-day morality" idiocy.
