I do not think a person can really BE a Conservative and not follow the teachings of God's Word.

Let me see now:
- he fed the masses for free
- healed the sick, again for free
- forgave his enemies instead of nuking them, and asked his followers to do the same
- the only people he ever attacked physically were money lenders and other shady business people in the temple (not very business friendly was he?)
- oh, yeah, and he told people to pay their taxes!
He sure sounds like a Republican to me, NOT!
While not getting into an extended discussion of how the meaning of liberal and conservative has changed, nevertheless the only question I have is this,
Who was the conservative really following "God's Word", the anti-slavery abolitionist or the slavers?
Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." (Matthew 19:21)
Then the Conservative told the poor man, "Go, sell all your possessions, and pay your fair share, you leech. Stop whining for someone else's taxes to pay for your health care. Pay for your own chemo."
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to get into heaven.
Who the hell said that? Some long-haired Jewish hippie, I think. Odd that his self-proclaimed followers don't have a clue what he stood for.
Ayn Rand. The philophisor of the GOP. Because apparently 1984 and Animal farm are to on the nose.
Then theres Penn Gillette, and the pretend Atheist S.E.Cupp.
Confused?
