If God set the world up for immediate retribution, how hard would it be to find believers? Not very. To have true believers of faith, you can't have the entire puzzle already laid out. By the way, who says that something in that meat sandwich won't have some terrible effect thirty years later? Remember, viruses can have 40 year incubation periods. God works in mysterious ways.
