Whatever is praised by men is an abomination to God (Luke 16:15). Apply this fully to the world: economics, science, self-confidence, power, sex, sports, business, celebrities, democracy, freedom, money, politics, success, peace, business...
[yes, PEACE!]

Hang on - don't neocon hawks in Washington praise war? And don't hippies anywhere praise peace? So both war and peace is an abomination to God, which may be problematic.
Problematic for us, that is. Tolstoy's probably fucked.
@ JonathanE:
Cue Frank Zappa.
This person did not read the context. It's a condemnation of Greed, not...well, everything, as this guy seems to think. Christ, it took me a 5 minute look up to figure that out...
Jesus said "blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God" in the Sermon on the fucking Mount.
He seemed to glorify peace.
You, then, fail at Christianity.
Praise Jesus!
Wait a second..
Whatever is praised by men..... is an abomination to God....
Yet Jesus IS God, for they are all part of the Trinity.
... Therefore Jesus is an abomination unto Himself....
*gasp*
GOD MUST BE AN EMO!
But wait...so that means that you should be doing things that are not praised by men...like murder, suicide, rape, bestiality, stealing, hoarding, and streaking through the public square covered in a bucketful of human feces.
I think you've got some work to do...make your God proud!
Most people I know praise "breathing," as it kinda, you know, helps to keep them alive.
Does that mean breathing is an abomination to God too? Damn. Better hold your breath until you die, then!
@cyborgtroy: Duh. How else would you explain the fact that the greatest, all powerful entity in the universe hates the whole world?
It's a good thing He doesn't bleed in his divine form.
*looks at the list*
*starts singing, "These are a few of my favorite things!"*
*notices sports, crosses it off, and resumes singing*
I guess I'm going to hell now. Then again, I already knew that.
"Whatever is praised by men is an abomination to God..."
So, in other words, God is an abomination to God?
and here I was feeling good about myself, well, now that I know that that is sinful, I guess suicide is the best answear
Well, I was gonna say Jesus came to bring peace, by his supposed words. But now that I think about it - you're right, he came to bring a sword, to turn family members against each other, and all kinds of stuff. So I guess you could make the case that Jesus was more like Attila the Hun than Ghandi, depending on which verses you pick.
Peace or War? You need a good contradiction like this in the heart of a religion, to completely baffle the 'true believers', who really want to have their self-worth taken away (it is SUCH a bother). Since they can't really understand a word of this contradictory gibberish, they assume it's because God / priest / bible is so much wiser, and it just makes their faith stronger.
Um... whatever happened to "Blessed are the peace-makers"? Or do you think they were talking about the gun?
Seriously, don't you praise God who would therefore have to be an abomination to him/her/itself? Think before you talk. It works... trust me.
Ooooh, lovely recursive argument. That which we like is despised by God so we should like something else which is in turn despised by God... Sounds like God hates the world.
Oh and don't forget to list friendship, love, compassion and the bible.
No, no, no, It's not "blessed are the peacemakers." I definitely heard "blessed are the cheesemakers."
Luke 16:15 KJV
"And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God"
The lesson here is really easy: Don't play the compare-to game, because you will always lose.
Please read the entire fucking passage. It says that people who seek to justify themselves before men (i.e. the pharisees) and people who are esteemed before men are an abomination to god.
You know all those preacher men you love so much.
I see a loophole:
Men praise God, too, don't they? Would God thus be an abomination unto himself?
Also: If God wanted us to spend all our time kissing His Holy Behind, would he have given us free will and intelligence? Would he not have created us so we were incapable of doing anything besides praising him? (Seems like a complex to me--wanting an entire universe to stand around kissin' your bum.)
Or actually, the way I see it(and Jesus too apparently), God is a convenient strawman to you. He doesn´t take your house, your job and your life. He doesn´t impose you unbearable timetables schedules or tax you.................It´s easier to love a God you can´t see instead of watching more tangible realities.
Confused?
