["I'm 16, and having an abortion isn't something I wanted, but it was the only option I had! My parent would kick me out and I had no one else there for me! Just because you believe it's wrong does not give you the right calling me and other people who have made the same decision, especially when I had no other choice. So id suggest you shut the fuck up! Yes, a life is a life but who the fuck do you think you are trying to determine what decisions other people make."]
It's a lie that there was no one there for you. If you had come to me, I would have been there for you. I would have provided you a home and paid for your expenses. I would have ensured you and your child were taken care of. And I am just one of 7,000,000,000 people on this planet. The vast majority of people would have helped you if you had asked for it. If you had turned to a crisis pregnancy center or called a crises pregnancy hotline, you would have found all the help you would have needed. Killing your son or daughter only served to protect your current way of life because you feared change. A mother should sacrifice for her children, not abandon them.
Abortion is the ultimate abandonment.

"It's a lie that there was no one there for you."
It's a lie that you are there for her. As soon as the baby(a real baby, not your make believe baby) is born, it loses the right to life it had when it was a make believe baby.
"Come to me"
So is your name and address printed on the side of buses? Milk cartoons? Leaflets handed out on the street? No, all you're selling is cheap sympathy.
Geezus, shifty, you people are repulsive.
HBO showed a documentary about these clinic harrassers who pulled aside women on their way into the clinic and promised to pay their expenses and provide other support. Turned out they never followed through on their promises. The patients got a few dollars in the beginning, and when it was too late to abort, they were abandoned. What a surprise.
"The vast majority of people would have helped you".
But not the way you think they would. For example, I would have driven her to the clinic so she could terminate the pregnancy, finish growing up, get an education, and be prepared for parenthood years from now, when she's no longer a child herself.

Everyone take note of what this individual just said. It could amount to a legal promise. I would be very surprised however if they were willing to follow up on it.

First off, that's creepy that you're telling a 16 year old girl to move in with you. Second, I said it before and I'll say it again: prove it. Show us that you're really willing to adopt the children that come from the fetuses you're trying to force women to carry to term. How many have you adopted so far?

That's horrible. There should be laws against that kind of behavior. We already have laws against false advertising, scams and breech of contract. If convincing someone to make a life-altering decision because you promise them you'll take care of their financial needs and then not providing it isn't a scam then I don't know what is.

Anyone else get creepy vibes from this?
How about you take a harder look at what gets said to pregnant teens? They're spat on in the streets. They're forced out of school. They're harassed at every turn, betrayed by those they trust, and often even their own family will treat them as pariahs.
The average reaction to a teenage mother who keeps the baby isn't "how noble, you chose life" it's to make that baby's life hell. They're turned away from jobs and further education, constantly slandered as irresponsible whores, and forced into an uphill battle to secure government support with assholes on every side fighting to axe social services because it "supports immoral behavior" and is "the first step to communism" and other bullshit.
Shiftyculture, why don't you lobby for the US taxpayers and government to provide cheap and available healthcare, and a livable welfare for unwed mothers and their children? That would probably reduce the rates of abortions.
In this particular case; a 16-year-old is not mentally ready to care for a baby; her body is barely even ready to give birth. The vast majority of normal, decent people would probably help her get to the abortion clinic on time. Why don't you attack HER parents? Oughtn't THEY to sacrifice for THEIR actually living child, not abandon her in a life-shattering crisis like this?

So what's stopping you from looking after ALL the unwanted babies in the world, hmmmmmm...?!
...I suspect - if that were to become compulsory , with executions of those 'carers' who complained just once about their childcare burden - that you'd soon demand the worldwide legalisation of abortion.
Hypocrisy is worse than abandonment. Of all those mothers with unwanted babies.
You, cultureshift, claim you are "just one of 7,000,000 people on this planet" prepared to pay for a home for the mother, pay for their expenses and those of the child after birth. Well, there are about 205,000,000 abortions worldwide. So we have to assume that you and every one of the 7,000,000 has the space and wealth to take care of at least 29 babies every year and see them through to college. By the time you have been doing this for ten years, you will have 290 mothers with around 1,600 children.
Now, the average cost of raising a child in the United States is $241,080. Using round figures, and without taking the expenses of the mothers into account, if cultureshift takes on no more than his quota and raises them all to graduate high school before absolving himself of financial responsibility for the first one, he will need, without accounting for inflation, around $1.2bn. Let him put his money where his mouth is.
"I would have provided you a home and paid for your expenses."
So a pregnant teenager just has to tell you they're considering an abortion and you'll buy them a house and pay their bills. You're either the biggest liar or the biggest sucker on the planet. I think the former.
BTW. If any pregnant teenager is considering taking up this liars offer make sure you get it in writing.
What Frank said. Also, when you get cultureshift's promise in writing, have him sign that with his own blood. Buuut, you might want to have a plan B, just in case he still doesn't come through.
I don't know if cultureshift would have followed through on it, but I don't know if this is fundie. Yes, he may be overly optimistic - I highly doubt most people would accept the burden of a teenage mother still in high school and a baby from a stranger off the street - and he considers it a murder of a human being rather than an undeveloped clump of cells, but the quote itself isn't ignorant or hateful. He accepts the consequences of his ideas and even offers (if possibly falsely) his help.
But he is definitely not the person to accuse another of fearing change. And I wonder if he would support raising his taxes a bit to help not only teen mothers, but also everyone else who has fallen on hard times...?
"I am just one of 7,000,000,000 on this planet." So close and yet, so far.
If you had come to me, I would have been there for you. I would have provided you a home and paid for your expenses. I would have ensured you and your child were taken care of.
My "Run like Hell if some creepy weirdo approaches you." sense is tingling.
When you concede that you feel a fetus is a human being, saying "How dare you tell people what to do" is a shitty response. It's a cluster of human cells, it's alive, but it's not a person yet; all life is not all equal. A mosquito is worth less than a human being. So is a fetus.
The vast majority of people would have helped you if you had asked for it.
Then how come people like Paul Ryan, Ted Cruz and David Brat keep getting elected on a platform of "cut taxes and screw the poor and needy"?
Haha. I'd like to know how many babies this guy has actually adopted. I'm wagering zero.
Okay, so, how could she have "come to you?" How can a young woman retroactively discover some creep on the internet making promises to give her money and shelter? The vast majority of people will not pay for a person's rent and all the expenses involved in raising a child. The pro-liars and shaming centers may provide some aid to pregnant women and babies, but they certainly do not give all that.
So. Abandoning a baby in a dumpster is worse than making the decision to get an abortion. Yeah, okay.
If you had come to me, I would have been there for you.
What, for the 1 million abortions each year in the US...? (that you claim happen... your figures so don't try to deny them)
I would have provided you a home and paid for your expenses.
Like fuck you would... you're a lying little shit.
Confused?
