Why is it commendable for Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, and others to loudly proclaim their ethnicity and boast of past achievements, but when a white Christian does so, everyone treats him like a bigot?

Last night I saw a video of a young Martin Luther King Jr. declare, "I am proud to be black. Black is beautiful. Someone needs to say it." That was fantastic but why was it right for him to say it about being black but wrong for me to say the same thing about being white? I will expect an answer from my critics.

The desire to keep our nation historically American with our language, customs, values, religion, etc., is admirable and nothing to be ashamed of. Why should we want a major shift in the racial ratio, language, customs, and religion?

Many blacks and Hispanics are Christians. Christianity is a religion, not an ethnicity.
Have you walked in the shoes of the blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims? Are you sure that they are not also treated like bigots, by some people? Google “confirmation bias”.

Very few are proud to be healthy. That's the default, which only those who have tasted the flip-side knows what the privilege really looks like. White is, sort of, the default in Western society, so we don't have to proclaim "look, I'm like everyone else".

If you insist on proclaiming you are proud to be white, you WILL be identified with the white supremacists and the KKK, as those are the ones who usually insist on proclaiming being proud of being just like everyone else.

Do you have an equal desire to keep your nation historically Native American, with their language, customs, values, religion, etc?

Again, being part of the "default" majority isn't that admirable, really, it just is.

Ask the Natives if they wanted that shift...

You live in the fiction that "American" means "white Christian", but that stereotype has never been true. "Historically American" has always been a mixture of languages, races, customs, and religions, and by the way that has always been "...admirable and nothing to be ashamed of."

What King said about "black is beautiful" was a kickback against an America that told him otherwise. But if you get vocally proud to be WHITE, once of the group that has done its best to proclaim superiority over other races and cultures and considers itself the only arbiter of truth and taste and talent, you will undeniably be considered one of the white supremacists that we both disdain.

He is commemorated via a memorial fountain in Piccadilly Circus, London:

On top of which is the world's first statue made of aluminium.

All to display - 'boast', if you will - of his achievements: not just as a politician, but also as a social reformer and philanthropist.

He was also a white Christian; while said statue is misnamed 'Eros', it's actual title being 'The Angel of Christian Charity'.

Many's the time I've seen people of many nations - Africans, African-Americans, Caribbean & Afro-Caribbeans; also Latinos, and young Muslim women wearing their Hijabs - sitting on it's steps: surely a representation of London being such a haven of Multiculturalism & tolerance. No bigotry allowed.

I'm sure Lord Shaftesbury is aware of that too; said statue pointing it's arrow down Shaftesbury Avenue, also named in his honour; it being a visual pun: said angel of Christian charity about to 'bury' it's 'shaft' down said 'avenue'. Which leads to Soho; near that end of Shaftesbury Avenue being Old Compton Street: Gay Central.

There is no "white" heritage. There are countless European heritages, and even American heritages in different parts of the country, some of which happen to be in areas where the majority is white. The idea of a single "white" identity was made up out of nothing in recent history. Centuries ago, the "white" nations were constantly at each other's throats, and a Frenchman would have recoiled at the thought that he had the same identity and perspective as a German.

Personally, I don't give a crap about identity politics. Successful* white people, for the most part, aren't on Reddit claiming that there is a "white genocide" or reminding everyone that someone who did that great thing once was white. Successful black people don't protest an institution because some trailer trash in the geographic area called them a mean word. Successful men don't fantasize about a return to the days when women were chattel. Successful women don't cry that air conditioning is sexist. All of that identity obsession is, almost without exception, favored by complete failures who want to think they are part of something bigger.

* Successful not necessarily referring to your paycheck.

They're not just haters. They're haters who are white Christians. And it's their religion that taught them that hate.

We're tired of this "we can claim separation" from your racist prejudiced and VERY Christian Klansmen. (Hitchens didn't speak for me but I'd have been ok if he did I guess, Stalin!, Yeah there's an Atheist asshole!)Fine, you're not one of them BUT you can't remove them and their Southern Baptist Pastors from your religion on whole, not even the Northern or European chapters will separate wholey just cause they're racist. (Nothing about Atheism drove Stalins policies whereas hate group often site their religious doctrine.)Their interpretation gives them many verses to pursue the hate.
