Errrr...strictly for the record, the objective wasn't to rape the guests, it was to drag them out into the street and rip them apart. Perhaps rape would have been involved as degradation, but death was the ultimate motive. Still, offering your daughters as a solution is far from righteous, too. Matter of fact, it's appalling.
You probably have never been a father, ummon. I'd keep both my daughters and my guests safe. It's what honor and hospitality means. This choice is irrelevant.
The actual choice would be whether I would put my life on the line to protect my daughters and my guests. Fortunately, my answer would also be that most of the mob would have to die before I did.

Would it not be even more hospititable to let yourself get gangraped rather then your daughter or your guest. OR, since many fundies love guns, why not shoot the gang members and say you were defending your property.
The thing is, the 'guest' was actually two angels. Would you rather a mob gang-raped your daughters, or they raped your ethereal guests? It is such an honour to have one of those fellows stay at your house... Such a dilemna... I mean, you can have another daughter or two.. but having a Seraphim in the guestroom is pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime thing. I always wondered why he didn't offer himself instead - but maybe he was such an ugly old coot, the crowd just went 'ugh!'

I gave this a meh, simply because I understand the story, and while I agree that offering your daughters to appease a crazed mob shows questionable family values, and may even be a little bit sexist, the rule of hospitality remains a fundamental part of Jewish society.
Maybe a three would have been better...
Y'know, Zeus also thought hospitality should be practiced and people should be nice and such, but he still punished that couple that chopped their children for a stew and served their body parts for supper. Turned them into lions and such.

Holy mother of christ, I don't care what kind of hospitality laws you have. If protecting your guest is that important to you, then you go out and be gangraped in their place and spare your daughters the agony and torture and humiliation and severe mental scarring.
