[Fundies have been reacting to the news that Hawaii might be the next state to allow same-sex marriage.]
I agree, I don't even recognize this world anymore. I graduated high school in 1965 and I didn't know of any gay people in my real life or on TV. Nobody even knew about Rock Hudson or the Brady Bunch dad Robert Reed. When Ellen came out in real life and on her show, she opened the door for many to follow. That is when the gay movement truly started and actually Ellen is not an in-your-face gay activist as much as many other people.

If you don't recognize the world, it's because it's been evolving and advancing with better understanding of human conditions and improved technology. If you don't like it, you can start by getting off the Internet.
You did know gay people but they kept very quiet about it because, guess what? if gay people admitted it publicly then they went to prison or got the living shit kicked out of them by bigots like yourself, HugsFromJesus.
And BTW I bet you thought that Liberace was just flamboyant.
Caesar, Maréchal Lyautey (as Clémenceau said, "Lyautey, now that is a man with some balls. Too bad they are not hiw own...") and Oscar Wilde would like to show you something...

All this started when we let niggers vote in 1965.
Yes, Ellen Degeneres was the first out gay person. There wasn't a single out homosexual before that. Not one of them.
People's ignorance of history is appalling.
And in-your-face, 'Turn or Burn' right-wing Fundamental ist Christianity only came to prominence during the administration of your precious God-Emperor of the Religious Reich, Ronnie Raygun.
...your point, Ruptured Retards?

That's because most of them weren't coming out in fear of being either institutionalized, jailed, beaten, or murdered by fucks like you.

Dear God! What is that thing in front of you with all sorts of letters and numbers on it that, when touched, magically transports letters and numbers to that weird flat television set in front of your face? 'tis the work of demons! For the sake of your soul you must destroy it with your hammer of vengeance and toss it into the fires of purification!

Yes you do. An oblate spheroid orbiting a yellow star? Remember? With loads of humans on it trying to survive? Recognize it now? It had a decade called the 1950's when everyone was repressed? It had a climate suitable for the life that had evolved on it? Ring any bells? Planet Earth it was called? You physically reside there? Yes? No? Surely you must recognize it? You'll be leaving it very er...soon? Ah! Ha! That's rung a bell. The memories are starting to flood back now.
Wasn't Oscar Wilde sent to prison for his homosexuality back in 1897? That's before 1965, is it not?
I graduated from our kind of high school in 1989 and I don't recognize this world anymore either. It's GREAT! When I was in school, it was simple Basic programming and no Outlook or Office or even e-mail. I got my first mobile phone sometime around 1995. It was BIG and HEAVY and could definitely not go Online or on Facebook, as neither of those things existed then.
Gay movement? As long as they are not discriminated against, it doesn't really concern me, as I'm straight. But, as I am happily married, I'd like everyone to be able to be as happy as I am, regardless of who they love (as long as it's someone consenting and adult, of course).
Face it SlugsFromJeebus....YOU'RE LOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSIIIIINNNG!
Now! Time for a Rainbow luau! ALOHA!
Look, Sluggo; When I was a kiddo, we didn't have Internet, some TV stations went off the air at 1 am or so, LPs were common but CDs were in infancy, cell phones were rare & super-expensive giant grey plastic bricks, Reagan was POTUS, feathered hair was cool & cars were big enough to have their own zip codes! THE WORLD CHANGES!

I've got news for you:

You enjoyed him and many others when you didn't know. So now that you know, what's the difference?
@ JohnTheAtheist :
I'm betting that HugsFromJesus here is female.
A LOT of Rapture Readyites are women who, shall we say, really really love Jesus. They are hoping that Jesus will come soon, so he can rapture them and turn them into the Bride of Christ. If you get my drift.
How is this fundy? So the person is older and documenting that the world was different in 1965? They probably don't recognize the world anymore. That's ok. Let's not start condemning anyone who's older and weirded out by out gay people, especially when they show the ability to say that Ellen is not in-your-face, i.e. the beginnings of accepting her! When we start condemning our parents for not understanding the changes the world has gone through, we're fundies.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
