I have a question about evoltuion.
If the giraffes neck evolved because it had to eat high up in the trees to survive. All those thousands of years of stretching and pulling made it evolve that way. Why is a mans penis not longer? Surely masturbation has been around as long as man has. I mean millions of years of tugging and pulling and yet, it is the same size.

"All those thousands of years of stretching and pulling made it evolve that way."
wrong. thanks for playing. please try back later
(hint -- it was "all those years" of short-necked giraffes not getting enough to eat and failing to breed)
Ummm...uh...ok
First of all Giraffes didn't evolve longer necks by trying to reach leaves higher up. Through certain environmental pressures it probably became advantageous for individual giraffes who already had longer necks to be able to reach food higher up. As in: elephants and other plant eating fauna competing for food on the ground. Natural selection at its simplest.
As for the human male penis...on average human penises are the largest of all primates. The long and short of it (hehe) however is that its as long as it needs to be. There's no real physical advantage to having a ginourmous schlong unless you're a porno star, OR if females started to evolve enormous vaginas. Too big and females might decline to mate with you because of fear of the pain. Too small and...well...bless your heart at least you're trying. 5-7" seems to be just about right to get the job done in most cases.
It's not stretching that made giraffe necks long, dumbshit, it's generation after generation of giraffes with longer necks surviving better and producing more surviving young than giraffes with somewhat shorter necks.
That's not how it works, but I suppose larger penises might be more likely to please women enough for an encore and multiple children. So that penises would be larger today than they were long ago might be a valid hypothesis.
Maybe it is. We have no fossilised phalluses, do we?
Okay, first off Jeanjum, that is just a ****ing odd thing to say.
Second, did you know in ancient Greek and ancient Rome, women enjoyed smaller wangs?
No?
Well now you know.

Actually, if my memory serves me correctly, it used to be smaller. Compared to other great apes we have pretty big penises so it did actually grow over the last several million years! Although, not because of some Lamarckian bullshit, it might have been a part of our sexual evolution.
Sounds like someone has confused Rudyard Kipling's "Just So Stories" with scientific fact. I read the ones about how the giraffe got its long neck, the camel got its hump, and the leopard got its spots, but I don't recall the one about how man got a longer penis.

I must be old, I can't remember the last time I used my penis to eat leaves out of trees. It has been in a bush or two though.(

I haven't laughed so much in ages.
With long necks, nourrishment is easier. With a larger penis, reproduction is impossible. Man, the porn section is in the other corner.
Well, the necessary fluida builds up, but then, right before it can work its magic, it just kinda spills out everywhere.
1) EVOLUTION DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY, I think you are thinking of Lamarcian, not Darwinian, evolution
2) MASTURBATION DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!
That was Lamarck's theory of evolution, and it's been proven wrong. Try again.
But then, there's Arthur Koestler's The Case of the Midwife Toad (1971), and epigenetics... but those are I'm afraid way, way too subtle for a fundie to deal with.
Masturbation can be beneficial to health but is not essential for survival (though some men might disagree, lol), it is something done for fun and relieving tension. Giraffes, however, have to eat in order to live, and the good leaves are at the top of the tree, ergo, the long neck.
Question answered, Jeanjum?
good point, just keep praying and im sure yours will evolve
im no zoologist but im far as im aware the giraffes neck didnt evolve, the giraffe survived because of its long neck, all short necked giraffes failed to survive!
Well, if women had seriously long legs, and refused to lie down, then there might be a reason for the penis to grow longer. Or spit farther. Or detach itself and fly around.
You're thinking of Lamarckian evolution, which has been proven wrong.
The giraffes that had a little bit longer neck than the others could eat leaves that where higher up, and survived better, to have offspring with the longer-neck gene. The ones among those long-necked giraffes who had even longer necks survived easier, etc. It's not the stretching that gives longer necks, but the mutation in the genes.
How do you know the penis IS the same size? To my knowledge no fossilized penis from Australopithecus has been found. Maybe because the penis has very little bone (i.e. none) that can fossilize.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
