“While you were smoking pot at Berkely, I was in the military.”
Oh, get off your high horse. I was in the military, too.
And i recall certain training about the geneva convention, and rules of engagement, and responsibilities, all sorts of shit.
"They are enemy combatants.”
THey were. Maybe.
IN the prison, though, that wasn’t combat. They were under our complete control, AND we have responsibilities towards our prisoners. Humans still have rights, that’s PART OF WHAT WE FIGHT FOR!
"Don't believe all the hype your gay professor shoves down your throat.”
Yeah, dismiss all criticism as liberal hippie stupidity. That’ll make it okay to torture people in our custody.
“Please understand, War has dirty and unfair tactics.”
But we’ve signed onto a number of treaties, and our own directives tell us NOT to do this shit!
And it wasn’t combat! There was no need to violate anyone’s religious beliefs JUST TO FEEL BETTER AS A BULLY!
"But it is absolutey necessary for military intelligence.”
NO, it’s absolutely not. Torture doesn’t work. People will tell you what they think you want to hear to make it stop. And, really, what’s the point of doing evil to fight evil? It’s just evil with extra steps.
"Just be happy that we are protecting your freedom.”
No. I cannot. Because as soon as you can justify breaking out rules, laws, directives, then I have no freedoms. I’m one pissy little guard away from being classified as less than human and suffering the same.
"You will probably never understand that because you have never served in the military.”
I have served. 20 years. My wife, 11. My son 15. TOrture is not justified. You pretending to find it justified is just apologizing for bullying people and laughing at it.
