In "honor" crimes, there are the indoctrinators (including in hate speech and claiming that "divine law" justifies crimes) and those who act due to the ideology, which may be stochastic (the prevalence will vary with demographics and other factors).
Actors are often unstable and become "soldiers of ideology", who's terrorism is hoped to have a chilling effect, usualy enjoyed by the preachers and sometimes the group.
The preachers often use mixed messages for plausible deniability, to avoid directly being considered implicated. It doesn't make it innocent, noble or rightful.
Because of these reasons, when you have the same ideology, it is hypocritical to attempt to whitewash yourself. For the same reason, authoritarian ultrafundamentalists who preach for society to return to medieval savagery, are often sarcastically told to move to Iran or Afghanistan, if they can't stand a humane society...
Although they tend to demonize Islam, these Christians are told this because they support the same control ideology as the most extreme Islamist groups even if they currently live where that is unacceptable (not necessarily representative of Islam and Christianity in general).
Obviously, there would normally be no need to attempt to self-justify using that kind of post and there definitely are similar honor crimes in Christian families. And here's an example of "preaching" that promotes them. https://fstdt.com/NDG3
