[Is materbation a sin?]
Yes this is a sin. Sex should be between a man and a woman, not between a man and his hand.

Oh, so this is like homosexuality? It is only a sin for males, females are free to do it? Who would've thought the Bible was so progrssive. Sure, it condems homosexuals, but only 50%!
Hope that helps,
Grey Wolf
Masterbation doesn't exist, therefore, it's not a sin. And masturbation isn't sex with your hand, it's between you and you. The hand is just an instrument. Following your logic, sex is between a woman and her vagina and men and their penis.
First off, what the hell is "mater bation" and does it involve your mother?
Second, I don't recall any prohibition in the Bible against masturbation. I now fundies frequently quote Gen.38:9-10 and the story of Onan, but that is taken out of context. Onan spilled his seed through coitus interruptus, and in so doing violated God's order to give his brother's widow a child.
It was the violation of the order to fertilize his sister-in-law that got Onan killed. I'm sure plenty of people "spilleth their seed" without any repercussions back then.
@#314047, #314204- he/she probably misspelled it on purpose to circumvent a swear filter.
Also, Gamespot seems to be becoming a fundie hangout, no?
No, it's sex between a man and his wife ONLY, according to you fundies. Nothing else, and only to propagate children.
And, as the pedant I am, I should point out that as God does not exist neither does sin. As in, murder is not a sin because without the existence of God, the murderer cannot offend God.
the ONLY question when it comes to masturbation is this:
If you were to go back in time (after a sex-change, if straight), seduce and fuck your past self...
Is it incest, or masturbation?
I love it. Don't have sex, DEFINITELY don't abort, but don't do anything to alleviate the urges in the meantime. 10 bucks says wet dreams are sinful, too.
Actually, Christians worldwide are very divided over the issue of masturbation.
Why is he discussing religion on Gamespot? :/
If it's a sin, how come the Bible doesn't say anything one way or another about it?
Note that contrary to common belief, Onan wasn't condemned for "onanism" (masturbation). After Onan's brother Er was slain by God for his wickedness, his father, Judah, told Onan to knock up his dead brother's widow to continue his brother's line. Onan didn't want to, so he faked it: he pulled out early so he wouldn't father her child.
Someone doesn't want to admit something. Also, there's nothing in the Bible that states masturbation is a sin (the passage fundies point at to doesn't refer to it).
As long as it isn't harming anyone or in front of you who cares what other people do behind closed doors?
This is what happens when the fundies can't remember the exact reason why something is a "sin", and they start to Think. And when people who don't think use their rusty brains for first time in years, occasional loud creaks can be heard.
"Um... sex should be between a man and woman, so masturbation is wrong because it's... between... man and... a hand???? (Maybe?) Well I suppose that makes sense. Let's hit the post button."
Masturbation, 99% of all men do it, the other 1% are lying through their teeth.
...And apparently also making fundamentalist statements about it.
That's not my hand, it's my waifu!
... Well, someone's got to make this joke...
Does this inadvertently disclose too much information about you? When you're washing, you are concentrating on the fantasy that it's another man's hand washing you? Well, that's okay, but you should then at least learn to accept it instead of projecting your own conflict upon the world. Well, there also exists a neurological disorder where one's hand feels like a stranger's. Also, by the same "logic", when you wear clothing, it's textile fetishism? Lastly, many people are creative and masturbate in various ways, not only with hands. It can be against objects, it can also be with someone of the opposite sex. It's normal and healthy.
Confused?
