It helps if you think of slaves as part of the infrastructure rather than people. In reality, it should be the 'slave descendants' paying tribute to the US Government for granting them freedom. They have some nerve asking US to pay THEM!

Or better yet, we should never have tried to stop you once you seceded. But then again, come WW1 and WW2 (if they had even occured now that the time line is fucked with) you probably would have sided with the Central Powers or Axis down there.

Yes, how dare they get pissed at being kidnapped from their ancestral home, be forced into slavery, endure degradation of the highest order and then have to flee THAT country even when they find a way to escape. Surely they must realize by now it was all just a big April Fools joke, right?
I'm sure that the Confederacy would have fallen all over themselves in their rush to develop labor-saving machinery in order to free hundreds of thousands of people that, by and large, they regarded as "subhuman." Really.

I understand that not everyone is going to agree with my view of blacks and that's fine. But trying to deny the fact that slavery is the best thing that ever happened to them would be insane. If we hadn't "kidnapped them from their ancestral home," they'd still be diseased and starving in primitive warring tribes like the ones we left in Africa still are today.
Bottom line is that we did the descendants of slaves a huge favor; we even made one the freaking President.
