Heaven is a planet, approximately 4 1/2 light years from the Earth. Hell is 30 miles below the surface of the Earth, under England, the channel and France.

Isn't there something in the Bible about sunlight in heaven being 49 times as bright as here on Earth (and moonlight being as bright as the sun)?
When I look in my astronomy books, I see that only Alpha Centauri is at anything like the claimed distance (it's 4.35 l.y. away). Alpha Centauri is a double star whose components are together only twice as bright as the sun.
Of the stars listed as the brightest in the night sky, only Vega is close to 50 times as bright as the Sun. But it's distance is 26 light years.
The star that comes closest to meeting both criteria is Sirius: 8.6 light years away, and 23 times the Sun's brightness. It has a white dwarf companion - I wonder what the view from Planet Heaven would've been like when Sirius B was a red giant....
Wow. I learn something new every day.
By the way, for those who didn't read the thread, here's some more gems from this guy:
"When a soul is taken to Heaven by an Angel, it takes only 20 minutes. That is about 60,000 times the speed of light, or what I believe to be the "Speed of thought" Warp speed anyone? I don't know if they can get seismic soundings from 157,000 feet."
[When asked how souls get to heaven]
There is a device, or vehicle that looks kind like a gondola from a cable car. They are taken in that. Spirits do not breathe and The planet Heaven has a nitrogen atmosphere.
I really hope this guy isn't being serious but something makes me doubt it.

Someone should tell him that the speed of thought is at least 60,000 times slower than the speed of light, not faster. (Up to 3,000,000 times slower, if it works at all)
According to the (Mormon) Book of Abraham, Kolob is the star closest to the throne of God.
I'll leave it to any Mormons here to explain its theological significance, but here's a Wiki article about it:

So if God lives on a planet (Alpha Centauri?), did he populate the Earth by sending Ancient Astronauts (who, of course, created landing strips on the Plains of Nazca).
But we know this can't be true because Belinda Carlisle sang that Heaven was a place on Earth!
Re: #21033
Actually, Centauri is a triple star system, the third star being Proxima Centauri, a small star in distant orbit of the other two.
Yeah, but Proxima is negligibly faint compared to the other two. And it's about a tenth of a light year from them too - and since it's closer to us, it's a less likely candidate for the parent star of Planet Heaven.
So, does this mean Heaven covered in intelligent fungus and psychic worms?
*wanders off to find that game again*
@ Matilde: "Heaven is a state . . . " A state? You mean like West Virginia?
Oh wait, that's ALMOST heaven.
France?
ROFLMAO
Sure, why not.
If it was merely four and half light years to Heaven, we ought to be able to see it with ordinary telescopes. It would be just beyond our closest star, Proxima Centauri (4,22 light years away).
Hell must be much, much bigger than just England and France, if is to have room forever for all sinners that has ever roamed the Earth.

I've read crackfics that are like Arthur C. Clarke's & Isaac Asimov's finest in comparison to this load of literary arse gravy. And "Battlefield Earth" is the worst example of Sci-Fi (by L. Ron Hubbard, natch), yet the film adaptation of such - by definition of it's (unfortunate sub-"Plan 9 From Outer Space") existence - was pitchable at least.
And said crackfics at least were rated in Fanfiction.net. Whassamatter, (i)q9.3536, nobody so much as read yours on that site?! [/snark]
Whilst not as short as your 'effort', (i)q9.3536, at least "DOOM: Repercussions of Evil " has attained legendary status on the intarwebz.
No, (i)q9.3536, your 'beliefs' are 4 1/2 light years away.
And then (i)q9.3536's brain was waving bye-bye to Voyager 1. X3

Maybe heaven is indeed in orbit around the binary stars of Alpha Centauri, and has an orbital diameter 24.5 times smaller than that of Earth. :o)
Confused?
