By definition, fundamentalists understand so-called scripture in a totally uninterpreted, literal sense.
But do they?
If, as the Bible claims, humans were created in God's image, then why don't we all look alike? I mean like identical twins? That would be a true fundamentalist belief.
And, how can there be two sexes, male and female, if there's only one God, and we were created in his image?
If your friendly neighborhood fundamentalist answers "'image' means in the general human form, not in the exact looks," then he has just opened the door to further interpretation and exegesis, slamming shut the door to fundamental fundamentalism and thus in his own face.
Ahh, the difficulties involved in being true to one's own twisted beliefs. Gotta feel sorry for the fundies: it's hard the live a lie.
If God existed, he'd serve them due retribution for all the pain and hate they bring into the world. What a shame he doesn't exist.
