Imagine, indeed, if there were no Christians in the world... No crusades that killed millions, no witch-hunts, no Gott Mitt Uns on the Nazi belt buckles (perhaps no Nazis at all), no raped teenagers during the fifties sent off to live with nuns during the pregnancy and then forced to give away their children, no Popes telling people in Africa that condoms cause AIDS (thereby killing millions)...
Wait; do we need the Christians to stave off dangerous overpopulation? Could we please do that through sexual education, contraceptives and safe abortions instead, please? Pretty please? Better to remove non-sentient lumps of cells, than killing actually living breathing thinking feeling humans, I'd say. (A clear sign that it's not life that matters to these dolts, that it's controlling women.)
The first humanoids to gather in larger groups than just family probably decided that stealing is wrong, that murder is wrong. We Homo's only have our brains to defend ourselves with against a very hostile Nature. We needed each other back then, and in order to live together and cooperate together, we had to have rules to make life run smoothly. Christianity had nothing to do with it; if anything, it made cooperation worse.
Where were we...? Oh yeah, in artm's stupid-world. The Bible doesn't say it's wrong to kill unborn babies, it was much more focused on keeping born babies alive, which was hard enough back then.
Homophobia and persecution bring much, much more dangers and destruction into a person's life.
artm, how many unwanted babies have you adopted? If you don't do it, who's going to actually TAKE CARE of those children born?
Overpopulation and children in orphanages will bring sickness and "diease", silly-nilly, not careful management of the world and its resources.
Yup, a world without Christians would be a world with love. (People are generally loving, regardless of religion.)
