So i live in Colorado & i thought this would be interesting to share with everyone here on shroomery.
we see drones at least once a month out here & I'm on the western slope which isn't nearly as poppin as denver eastern slope colorado.
regardless of location, this state has already seen its fare share of drones to the point where our citizens wanna shoot them out of the sky & are encouraging others to join in the fight.

i am whole hearted ly for this.

There's no mistaking a small drone out here. they sound like weed whackers in the sky & you can always hear them coming.

What do you say?

treesniper, do you know what happens to a bullet fired into the air. The CDC reports:

"Bullets fired into the air usually fall back at terminal velocity, speeds much lower than those at which they leave the barrel of a firearm. Nevertheless, people can be injured, sometimes fatally, when bullets discharged into the air fall back down. Bullets fired other than exactly vertical are more dangerous, as the bullet maintains its angular ballistic trajectory, is far less likely to engage in tumbling motion, and so travels at a speed much higher than its terminal velocity would be in a purely vertical fall."

So why not get a crowd of your friends together and all of you shoot straight up. It'll probably raise the gross average IQ in your town.

Oh, and before you do that, look up the words "Hellfire Missile." It could save you a world of hurt.

What flummoxes me the most about this is that people assume that drones and only drones are the only pieces of military hardware that:

A: carry cameras/ intelligence equipment

B: have the ability to shoot missiles

If the government intended on spying on American citizens or assassinate them, they already have plenty of planes, and they are already legally flown in the United States, without anyone complaining about them.

Why even bother with drones? The answer is probably because spying and assassinations aren't the intended goal. Maybe its because drones make great platforms for a wide variety of roles and are able to fill in for human crews when the tasks are long/routine. Maybe its because drones are becoming an increasingly important part of the US's arsenal, and having to train pilots on aircraft outside of the US is a bit silly?

Point being, there is no reason to really oppose the use of drones over American airspace apart from paranoid delusions about spying and actual concerns over using drones in crowded airspace with aircraft following unplanned routes.

At any rate, treesniper can probably expect jail time/ heavy fines for shooting a government property.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the drones the military is using rather big and sturdy ones? Almost as big as an actual plane?

I mean these things are designed to carry the same weapons (i.e. missiles or bombs) as “normal” jets and they are supposed to be sent into “hot zones” where they will be shot at with bigger stuff than some hill-billy’s hunting rifle.

Not to mention that a modern air-to-surface-missile can blow you to smithereens long before you can even see or hear the plane or drone that fired it at your sorry ass

But at least the mental image of treesniper119 looking through his hunting scope at an incoming Hellfire missile is rather amusing.
