[George L. Wilson of Children Need Heroes and Drew Heiss of Street Preach are planning to honor Paul Hill in a series of events called "Paul Hill Days" in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 26th - 29th -- "to honor him as God's man and our hero."
On July 29, 1994 Paul Hill, who sought to set a good example for Christian theocratic revolutionaries, assassinated abortion provider Dr. John Britton and James Barrett one of his escorts, and seriously wounding another, June Barrett, outside an abortion clinic in Pensacola, Florida.]
"On July 29th, 1994, Paul Hill boldly defended 31 babies from unspeakable violence by killing a paid assassin and his bodyguard. He was arrested, given a sham trial, and executed as a martyr. On the 13th anniversary of Paul Hill’s act of love and mercy, memorial events will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to honor him as God’s man and our hero."

I read about htis insanity on another site. They're actually going to "celebrate" by doing a RE-ENACTMENT of Hill's terroristic murders.
IOW, these people are complete sickos. They are TRYING to talk some other maniac into doing this again.
Wow, celebrating the actions of a murderous psychopath. That's a new low, even for the fundies. Hill did not "defend 31 babies from unpeakable violence" anway, since an ivestigation by the New York Times discovered that every single one of Dr. Brittons patients rescheduled with other physicians and had the abortions anyway.
On July 29, 1994, Paul Hill murdered two human beings, attempted to murder another one, and caused 31 women to have to reschedule their appointments for abortions.
May be a hero to other thugs but he's less than zero as far as real people are concerned.
So where does the figure of 31 babies come in? Was that the number of people scheduled for an abortion with him, or the number of people scheduled for an appointment *that day*, which these folks have counted as "aborters" regardless of the actual reasons for the appointments?
Act of love and mercy for whom?, or now the pro-life doesn't cover life for people, no matter how repugnant their acts are?. Following your logic, why didn't you kill a bank director or an assurance company director who is making damage to poor families?, why don't you kill all the drug dealers, who kill countless people?. You see, when you start relativising life, you end being pro-life.
So... you are going to celebrate someone who saved 31 zygotes/embryos/feti because life is life, by killing a living, breathing, born person?
Yep, Italic text an act of love and mercy.
A man doing his job being brutally murdered by some crazy-eyed, gibbering fanatic, who is then hailed as a hero... Oh! There goes the last smidgeon of belief I had in the sanity of mankind as a whole.
Children need heroes.........sure, that's why they like Spiderman or Superman or Naruto, not a murderer, no matter what his reasons were.
This is one of the saddest, most disgusting things I've ever read in my life. Whatever happened to "thou shalt not kill"?
If that murderous fuckwit had really wanted to save unborn babies, he would have volunteered at a crisis pregnancy center, donating time/food/clothes/caring/a shoulder to lean on to women who want to keep their babies but lack the means to do so. Or perhaps he could've opened his home to a few seriously needy pregnant ladies. But like all fundies, he preferred to take the evil, heartless way. How these people think they are "holy" is far beyond me. How the hell can shooting someone ever be love and mercy??? The mind boggles.
I would seriously like to know how they cannot see that killing people to stop abortion is ridiculously hypocritical. That sick murderer and his fundie brethren are so twisted, I have a hard time believing they are for real. What could possibly make a person so messed up in the head? :(
Disgusting. Hill killed Britton with a shotgun, not caring about the bodyguard he killed or the woman he injured in addition to taking away her husband. The man was insane and now he's supposed to be honored?
Here's what really pissed me off though. Hill was murdered by the state of Florida . (Only website I found, but I'm sure there are others like it)
So let me see if I understand how this works.
A doctor performs an abortion: MURDERER
Fundie kills doctor and bodyguard: A hero defending innocent children.
The justice system in FL tries, sentences and executes fundie: A MURDEROUS CONSPIRACY OUT TO QUASH GOOD CHRISTIAN MEN.
Nothing boils my blood more than those who are selectively pro-life.
You know, even if you believed that abortion is murder, how would murdering a doctor be an appropriate way to express that?
Was "an eye for an eye, motherfuckers" a big part of Jesus's message?
If a muslim fundamentalist straps a bomb to himself and kills infidels, he is a terrorist. If a christian fundamentalist kills a doctor, he's a martyr. Is it only me, or is there a serious double standard here?
One of the problems with the pro-life movement is that people are, effectively, selectively pro-life. Depends what life you're talking about and which benefits can you get from it. For example, it's bad to kill a man, no matter how nasty he is but is bad to abort a fetus because is a handicap in your life?, could be an argument. However, the opposite is also true, is the fetus sacred but, once developed and come to term, you can get rid of it as if nothing?. I mean, you can't be in favour of life and say that any person who has misbehaved should be put to death, to death by whom?, why was Paul Hill above that doctor, if I may ask?. If he was really pro-life, the logical step is preventing abortion by convincing people of his position, which is expensive, of course. The babies were innocent, well, so were the bobyguard and the bystander who was injured. In that case, Paul Hill should respond for them, don't you think?. Moreover, Georges Bush should respond for all the kids he has killed in Iraq, following that logic.
SophieEleven- How the hell can shooting someone ever be love and mercy???- shooting Hitler in 1939?
6000000(holocaust) + 50000000 (Eastern Front) + 500000 (Americans and British) + 3000000 (Spanish civil war) + untold (China- caused by the Germans, carried out by the Japanese) = a whole lot of hero.
"He who can make you believe abusurdities, can make you commit atrocities" - Voltaire professional smart arse.
"There is a wall of seperation between Church and State..." - 1st amendment to the US constitution
"If there were not God, it would be necessary to invent him" - Voltaire.
This is disgusting.
Er, Fred? You should revise that last post.
The 1st amendment doesn't actually use the words "wall of separation between church and state."
That phrase was used in a letter by Jefferson; the Amendment reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
Lt Fred- murdering a doctor and innocent bystanders is not the same thing as shooting Hitler, and I think you know full well what I meant. Please don't be obtuse.
(BTW- not to go off on a tangent, but it is questionable as to whether killing Hitler would've actually prevented WW2, given the political climates and the state of the world at that time. It probably just would've meant that some other person would have filled that role instead of him.)
What if those unborn babies had lived to grow up to be abortion doctors?
Violence is not the answer, dimwit.
Confused?
