(post titled "Atheism and Child Murder")
In my opening statement I showed the profound connection between Singer's Darwinian atheism and his advocacy of infanticide and euthanasia. Remarkably Singer responded by saying he didn't come to debate his bioethical views! Rather, he wanted the debate to focus exclusively on the question of whether God exists or not.

What?
You're debating an atheist about the existence of God??
What was he thinking?
Obviously he was just there so you could make fun of him, right?
Actually, he wasn't referring to abortion--Singer is a well known proponent of giving mothers a trial period after the baby is born (28 days) where they can decide if they wish to allow the baby to live in light of the quality of life it is likely to have (birth defects, abormalities, etc.).
There isn't a debate. Atheists do not believe in god. Period. End of story. You cannot debate the fact of belief.
Straying from the topic at hand does nothing to gain credibility. Your argument stands on its own or it fails. You cannot drag irrelevant ideas into it.

If bioethics weren't the pre-selected debate topic, then why should Singer discuss it right then? His views on bioethics were irrelevant just then.
I'm willing to bet that 'infanticide' in this case is abortion. And euthanasia is fine in some cases. So fuck off, Dinesh D'ouchebag
No, "infanticide" in this case means infanticide. Singer believes the quality of "personhood" can only be ascribed to those beings that are sentient. He includes some animals in that category, and excludes some humans - infants, adults with profound mental disabilities, and older people suffering dementia, to name a few.
Dinesh is really a remarkable idiot. A fellow whose credentials belie his absolute lack to form any kind of coherent, cogent argument devoid of basic rhetorical fallacy.
Or to put it more succinctly, he's a total asshole.
I think singer's right. What makes human life valuable is that it appreciates life. If a baby is born really fucked up i think it should be euthanised.
@tmr Of course you can debate whether god exists. people have been doing it all the time.
Confused?
