*Equally as dangerous is a Theocracy. To use two examples. First, can you say 'Iran?' Nuff said.*
I have see the Iran argument before. Most Christians that I have had this discussion with believe that is not a fair benchmark because islam is a fasle religion, and so... what can you expect? But a christian government, with chritian principles and laws would be different I have been assured.

HAHAHA...
"false" religion? LOLLERCOPTERZ!
Islam is neither more false nor more true than christianity is, both are bronze age myths.
//But a christian government, with chritian principles and laws would be different I have been assured. //
Hmmm, so all those Christian governments in Medieval Europe were different? Those governments and societies that burned those that did not believe what Christianity said, that tried those that had the audacity to question the Bibles cosmogony and cosmic order, that went to war in the name of religion, that forcibly converted fellow countries, that reduced woman to possessions. Yeah, they sound very very different.

Does the phrase "Dark Ages" mean anything to you?
I have see the America argument before. Most Muslims that I have had this discussion with believe that is not a fair benchmark because christianity is a fasle religion, and so... what can you expect? But a muslim government, with muslim principles and laws would be different I have been assured.
Fixed.
You have been assured. Just like you've been assured that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, and that the Christian religion is the only true religion.
Well how about we go and see how wonderful life was under Christian rule? We have several examples:
1) Dark Age Europe (I know I know, it's only Catholics and they're not TRUE Christians...fine, moving on)
2) Calvinist controlled Scandinavia
3) Post-Reformation England
4) The Puritanical Bastards of New England (witch hunts anyone?)
5) The individual protestant principalities of the Holy Roman Empire (which was neither holy, nor roman, nor a real empire).
And while not a true example there are many Latin American countries today which partially write Catholic doctrine into their laws. Yup you're way up there in terms of quality of life, economic development, human rights. I mean yeah I'd gratefully live in any of those societies.
*ponders for a moment*
*points at turin*
Ah, WHICH CHRISTIANITY?
[But a christian government, with chritian principles and laws would be different I have been assured. ]
No. If you followed the law of the bible then it would be ten times worse.
Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)
Islam could be "fasle" religion if I knew what the word meant.
As for "christian government," I would mention the Dark Ages after the fall of Roman civilization. If it weren't for the Islamic civilization preserving and improving the sum of human knowledge at that time, modern civilization may not have come about.
If you paid for those assurances you mentioned, you should demand your money back.
Different like the medieval Church States, where there were high levels of prostitution to satisfy all the pilgrims who were visiting? Oh, but that was the false religion of catholicism.
Different like the Salem Witch Trials? Mistake?
The closest examples of the Christian church in charge have been chronicled in history books. All were suppressive regimes.
But then, these people never read real history
Worried now.
Because Islam is a basically pacifistic, charitable religion, and you end up with the Middle East.
What the HELL would happen if a religion as belligerent as fundamentalist Christianity took over a country? Catholicism did enough damage! Can you say 'Spanish Inquisition'?
...a christian government, with chritian principles and laws would be different I have been assured.
You're right. Iran, as bad as it is, is still nothing compared to the Dark Ages, where Europe was ruled by a Christian theocracy.
I agree, a Christian theocracy sounds great, I mean, look at Joseph Kony and the Lords Resistance Army in Uganda.
You have been assured? By whom?
Muslims will say that Christianity is a false religion.
We had Christian governments, with cristian[sic] principles and laws during the Dark Ages. It didn't work out well...

If you want a current example, look at what havoc the Pope's statement that condoms cause AIDS has wrecked in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Confused?
